Today we’d like to introduce you to Alfonso Aguirre.
Hi Alfonso, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Art has always been in my life. Whether it was drawing, acting, playing guitar, singing, photography or writing, creating was always something I was drawn to.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Marketing, and I worked for different companies and two universities. I loved the people I worked with, but I always needed to do something creative. For several years, I dabbled in music and fitness photography.
I started taking acting seriously way later in life. I was in Texas, close to turning 40 and decided I needed to give it a real shot. I signed up for classes and loved it! I signed with Page Parkes and started getting auditions in Austin, Dallas and Houston.
I booked several commercials and print projects, and then COVID happened. When everything became virtual, a door opened for me to audition for out of town projects, including Atlanta, which was exciting. My wife is from Atlanta, so it was already my second home, since we came here every holiday to visit her folks.
That was further confirmation that I was following my purpose.
In 2024, I signed with DDO Artists Agency (shoutout to my awesome agent Candace Stewart!) and things got more exciting. I started getting more TV and film auditions and booked more commercials in Atlanta and the South East. It’s been great and I feel blessed and grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This industry has several challenges. Being non-union, becoming SAG eligible, joining SAG and seeing a big decrease in audition requests. Competition. Driving hours for in person auditions versus recording endless self tapes with no feedback. Working local hire. Waiting for payment, etc.
You name it – but it is still such a fulfilling career. I love it!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am passionate about being both an acting coach and a life coach.
I was a costar in one episode of Better Call Saul, a day player in Lifetime’s Eric Jerome Dickey’s “Friends and Lovers” (shot in Atlanta) and had a leading role in “Once upon a Dream”. I’ve also been in several short films and over 70 commercials.
I also did my first Tyler Perry project in December of 2025. Looking forward to that coming out soon!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Vacationing with my family was always special. Going to Disney Land or Universal Studios as a kid. Visiting my grandparents. Looking back, it feels like it was just yesterday. Life is short, we have to follow our dreams.
Whoever takes the time to read this, if you’re looking for a sign, this is it. Pursue what fills your soul. You won’t regret it.
