Hi Ryskaisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey to Asa Wellness Lab began in 2019, during my pregnancy. After welcoming my baby, I found myself at a crossroads. I had spent eight years building a career in IT — but when I sat with it honestly, I realised it was never truly mine. It was a profession, not a passion.
Skincare was always something I had loved deeply. So I made a decision that changed everything: I walked away from the corporate world and enrolled in esthetics school in California. I studied, I trained, and I sat the exam — and I passed. That moment felt like the beginning of who I was supposed to become.
After receiving my license, I worked in different spa environments, building my skills from the ground up — learning facials, face massage, and the art of reading skin. But I knew I wanted to go further. I invested in advanced certification programs in techniques such as: Buccal Massage, Myofascial Lift Massage, and Lymphatic Face Massage.
Through that journey, a vision became clear. I didn’t want to open just another spa. I wanted to create something different — a holistic wellness lab where everything is natural, organic and intentional. A place where clients come not just for a treatment, but for real transformation: relief from TMJ tension, freedom from acne, a way to slow down the appearance of aging — all without damaging the skin barrier.
Since opening in 2024, I have had the privilege of helping over 850 clients. That number means everything to me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly — no. And I think being transparent about that matters, because the entrepreneurial journey is rarely what it looks like from the outside.
The biggest challenge was location. I started in California, built a small studio, found loyal clients I genuinely loved serving — and then hit a wall trying to grow. I poured significant money into advertising, but new clients were incredibly difficult to reach. Over time, I had to accept a difficult truth: that location simply wasn’t right for what I was building.
The cost of living in California added another layer of pressure. When trusted friends recommended Atlanta, Georgia, we made the decision to relocate — and it has been the right one. Alpharetta has given Asa Wellness Lab the community it deserves.
More recently, I have faced a different kind of challenge: finding the right people. As I have grown, I have wanted to bring on team members who genuinely share my philosophy — practitioners who are skilled, qualified, and deeply committed to holistic skincare. That level of talent and alignment has been harder to find than I expected. But I haven’t compromised on it, and I won’t. The integrity of what we offer is too important.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe we are at the beginning of a significant shift. For a long time, the beauty and skincare industry has been driven by aggressive treatments — chemical peels that strip the barrier, procedures that rely on injectables, approaches that prioritise short-term results over long-term skin health.
I think people are beginning to ask different questions. They are asking: what is actually happening to my skin? Is this sustainable? Are there approaches that work with my body rather than against it?
My hope — and my belief — is that the next decade will see a genuine movement toward holistic skincare. Not as a trend, but as a philosophy. Treatments grounded in anatomy, in muscle and fascia, in the body’s own capacity to heal and regenerate. Less intervention. More intelligence.
