Meet David Yates of Expedition Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Yates.

Hi David, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is David Yates, owner of Expedition Events. The roots of my business go back over a decade, starting under a different name where I discovered my passion for events. I began in the off-road community with parking lot and camping events before selling that business, later reacquiring it to focus more intentionally on events. Eventually, I phased it out to grow under Expedition Events. Today, we produce everything from concerts to expos and markets, while continuing our legacy with Jeep Camp—our only remaining camping event during Jeepfest. Our focus is simple: creating events that support small businesses and bring the community together.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any small business, nothing is easy. One of the biggest challenges is navigating different markets and figuring out what each area will support. Some events work, some don’t. Because we do a lot of first-time events, getting the word out can be tough—but our team always shows up and delivers strong, well-executed events.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Expedition Events?
Expedition Events is a community-based event company focused on finding gaps in the market and filling them with meaningful events. We put a strong emphasis on creating opportunities for small businesses, keeping exhibitor costs low so more can participate, and maintaining low—or no—entry fees for attendees. The goal is simple: create the best possible experience for both exhibitors and the community.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We also partner with small businesses in areas that need meaningful events, investing our time, money, and experience to bring them to life. We’re always looking for opportunities to work with businesses and build something impactful for their community.
