Today we’d like to introduce you to Ogbarode Ogbon.
Hi Ogbarode, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m MCOGB, a luxury wedding and event MC based in Dallas. My journey into hosting started naturally through my love for people, communication, and creating memorable experiences. Growing up, I was always the person bringing energy into gatherings, coordinating people, making announcements, and helping events flow smoothly without stress or confusion.
What began as helping at community events, celebrations, and weddings slowly turned into something bigger when people started recognizing the impact a strong MC can have on an event. I realized hosting was not just about speaking on a microphone, it was about crowd control, timing, emotional intelligence, entertainment, and helping families create moments they would never forget.
As I gained more experience, I developed my own style, high energy, organized, engaging, and professional, while still knowing how to connect with different cultures and audiences. That journey led to the creation of MCOGB with the vision of delivering premium hosting experiences for weddings, corporate events, celebrations, and destination events.
Today, I serve clients across Texas and beyond, helping couples and event hosts enjoy seamless, unforgettable events while I handle the flow, energy, and audience engagement. My focus has always been simple: make every event feel classy, smooth, exciting, and truly memorable.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No journey is completely smooth, and mine definitely had its challenges. One of the biggest struggles in the beginning was getting people to understand the real value of a professional MC. Many people think hosting is just “talking on a microphone,” but there’s actually a lot that goes into managing timelines, coordinating vendors, controlling the crowd, keeping energy high, and solving problems in real time without guests even noticing.
Another challenge was building visibility and credibility in a competitive industry. At first, I had to work hard to earn trust, build relationships, and consistently prove myself at every event. There were moments where I had to handle difficult crowds, last minute schedule changes, technical issues, delayed vendors, and unexpected event pressure, all while still keeping the atmosphere positive and professional.
Balancing creativity with business growth was also a learning process. Beyond hosting events, I had to learn branding, marketing, content creation, networking, and how to position MCOGB as a premium service and not just another MC option.
But honestly, those challenges helped shape me. Every difficult event taught me how to stay calm under pressure, think fast, communicate better, and create smoother experiences for clients. Looking back now, the struggles were part of what helped me grow into the MC and professional I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
MCOGB is a luxury wedding and event MC brand focused on creating unforgettable event experiences through high energy hosting, crowd engagement, professionalism, and seamless event coordination. We specialize in weddings, receptions, corporate events, cultural celebrations, milestone parties, and destination events.
What makes our brand unique is that we go beyond simply announcing names or speaking on stage. We help manage the entire atmosphere of the event. From coordinating with vendors and DJs to controlling the flow of the program, energizing the audience, and helping clients stay stress free, our goal is to make every event feel smooth, classy, and memorable.
We are especially known for premium crowd control, strong audience interaction, cultural versatility, and the ability to connect with different types of guests and age groups. Whether it is a luxury wedding, an American, Asian, European, African traditional ceremony, or a multicultural celebration, we know how to balance elegance, excitement, and professionalism.
One thing that sets MCOGB apart is the level of preparation and personalization we bring to every event. We work closely with clients before the event to understand their vision, timeline, personalities, traditions, and desired atmosphere. That preparation helps us deliver events that feel intentional and unique instead of generic.
Brand wise, I am most proud of the reputation we are building around excellence, reliability, and experience. We want clients to feel confident that once MCOGB is involved, their event is in good hands. Our focus is not just on being loud or entertaining, but on creating moments people genuinely remember long after the event is over.
I also want readers to know that we proudly serve clients across Texas and beyond, including destination and international events. At the heart of the brand is a simple mission: helping people celebrate life’s biggest moments with joy, energy, class, and unforgettable memories.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe risk is part of growth. If you want to build something meaningful, especially as an entrepreneur and creative professional, you have to be willing to step outside your comfort zone. At the same time, I do not believe in reckless risk taking. I believe in calculated risks, preparation, adaptability, and trusting your ability to learn through the process.
One of the biggest risks I took was building MCOGB into a serious luxury event brand while balancing other professional responsibilities and entering a very competitive industry. There are many talented MCs and entertainers out there, so choosing to position myself differently, premium, organized, high energy, and experience focused, required confidence, consistency, and patience.
Another major risk was putting myself out publicly through branding, social media, content creation, and live hosting. When you build a personal brand, people are not just judging your work, they are judging you directly. That can be uncomfortable at first, especially when you are trying to establish credibility and grow your audience.
I have also taken risks by accepting opportunities that pushed me beyond my comfort zone, larger events, multicultural audiences, destination opportunities, and high pressure environments where expectations were extremely high. Those experiences taught me how to stay calm, think quickly, and trust my preparation.
My perspective on risk today is that growth usually lives on the other side of uncertainty. Every meaningful opportunity comes with some level of fear or discomfort. The key is doing the work, preparing well, staying adaptable, and being willing to learn from both wins and mistakes.
I also think risk becomes easier when you genuinely believe in the value you bring. For me, once I understood the impact MCOGB could have on people’s most important moments, taking those risks started feeling more like an investment in purpose than a gamble.
