Check Out Cherell “Rell” Simmons’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherell “Rell” Simmons.

Hi Cherell “Rell”, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a variety streamer, content creator, entrepreneur, and community advocate from the New Orleans area who started my journey in 2021 with a simple goal: creating a space where people could feel seen, welcomed, and genuinely connected through gaming. When I first started streaming, I spent a lot of time playing Fall Guys, GTA V, horror games, and story based games, which helped me connect with people who simply wanted a fun, laid back, and inclusive environment to be themselves in.

Early on, I reached Twitch Affiliate status, but what has always meant the most to me has never been numbers. It’s been the community. Over the years, my platform naturally evolved alongside me, and so did the games I enjoyed playing, including titles like Dead by Daylight, Fortnite, and indie games. Through it all, I’ve remained focused on creating uplifting spaces where people from all backgrounds can come together, laugh, connect, and support one another.

That passion also opened doors for me in community management, social media work, brand partnerships, event coordination, and advocacy efforts centered around inclusivity and mental health awareness. Outside of content creation, I also come from a healthcare and customer support background, which strongly shaped how I approach communication, empathy, and community care.

Today, I continue to grow as both a creator and entrepreneur through my content, collaborations, and event work, while staying grounded in the same mission I started with: creating meaningful experiences, uplifting others, and building genuine connections both online and offline.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many creators, I’ve experienced moments of self doubt, burnout, and trying to figure out where I fit in while balancing real life responsibilities behind the scenes. Building something from the ground up takes a lot of time, patience, consistency, and emotional energy, especially when you genuinely care about the people and community you’re creating for.

I’ve also experienced people coming and going throughout the journey, which can be difficult when you pour so much into relationships and spaces you care about. There were moments where I questioned myself, my content, and whether I was doing enough, but those experiences also helped me grow personally and professionally.

At the same time, those challenges taught me resilience. They reminded me why authenticity matters so much to me and why I’ve continued showing up despite the ups and downs. Every obstacle helped shape me into a stronger creator, community leader, and person overall, and I think that’s a big part of why I value genuine connections and inclusivity as much as I do today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Professionally, my background is in healthcare, where I’ve worked in patient support, customer service, scheduling, and engagement focused roles. That experience has helped me develop strong communication skills, empathy, organization, and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. A lot of what I learned in healthcare naturally carried over into my work as a creator and community leader.

On the creative side, I’m a variety streamer, content creator, entrepreneur, and community focused advocate who specializes in building inclusive, welcoming spaces where people feel comfortable being themselves. I’m known for my authenticity, positive energy, and my ability to genuinely connect with people rather than simply focusing on numbers or trends. Whether it’s through gaming, conversations, collaborations, community events, or social media engagement, I always want people to feel seen, valued, and supported.

What I’m most proud of is organically building a supportive community from the ground up over the past few years. Seeing people form friendships, feel encouraged, and find comfort in the spaces I’ve created means more to me than any milestone. I’m also proud of creating opportunities for collaboration and inclusivity within the gaming and creator space while continuing to grow outside of my comfort zone.

What sets me apart is that I lead with authenticity and heart. I genuinely care about the people I connect with and the impact I leave behind. While my professional background is rooted in healthcare, I’ve also developed a strong passion for the media and entertainment side of content creation, community building, and storytelling, and I would love to continue expanding further into that space in the future.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’d describe myself as a thoughtful risk taker. I don’t take risks recklessly, but I do believe in stepping into opportunities that align with my growth and purpose, even when there’s uncertainty.

One of my biggest risks has been building my career as a content creator and community leader while also working full time in healthcare. Streaming started as something I did on the side, but choosing to stay consistent, invest in my community, and show up creatively required me to step into the unknown without any guarantees.

I’ve also taken risks by branching into brand collaborations, community events, and entrepreneurship. Those steps pushed me to trust my abilities in new spaces, even when I didn’t have everything figured out yet.

Overall, I see risk as necessary for growth. I’ve learned that some of my biggest opportunities have come from saying yes before I felt fully ready, then figuring it out along the way.
