Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I graduated from scad Savannah in 2003 with a degree in jewelry design and have since developed my line, including having a retail storefront for 5 years which I sold after having kids. I’ve continued online and in boutiques and hosting trunk shows and also work for another high-end line out of New York.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s always struggles in small business, balancing time with family and children, being visible enough online.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I enjoy creating pieces that are unique but with affordable prices so instead of, for instance, using 14 karat gold I use a lot of brass in sterling silver still paired with diamonds and gemstones but I prefer to move inventory with the same designs that could be done in any metal but so it’s affordable and people can enjoy the pieces without only looking at their value in gold.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m from Ohio originally, in the snow belt in cleveland, went to college in Savannah at scad, and then moved to the beach near Sarasota on Anna Maria Island for 10 years. I’ve lived in the Atlanta area for 13 years now but I feel like experiencing different areas and residents of the east, in the north, the south, and now sort of in the middle in Atlanta has grown my base and helps me relate to a variety of customers.
