Today we’d like to introduce you to Kameron Amerson.

Hi Kameron, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Nashville Tennessee, and moved to Atlanta when I was 3 years old. My family from Ohio but everything I know i learned it here (ATL). I’ve stayed a little bit of everywhere except for the westside. House fire in lithonia i think in like 2006, stayed in Clayco with my Uncle Lou’nem for a while. Went back to lithonia. I went to 5 elementary schools due to family struggles and stuff like that ever since that house fire. We talking, Glenwood rd, Rockbridge rd, Redan, Panola, Rainbow dr, etc. I spent all of middle school and high school in Stone Mountain, so when being short I usually just say that. I don’t get into the whole what is and what’s not Atlanta cuz truth be told its a lame ass nigga somewhere and everybody city and its a few real ones so I don’t give a damn where you from is you real?

When it come to the music, I’ve been interested for as long as i’ve been able
To hear it. My mama told me, I was rapping 50 cent in my baby car seat before I was talking full sentences. I listen to bout every genre or at least many genres and eras of music. So you can say if anything influence any part of my sound its just music in general. Being able to be creative has been apart of my life forever. Started writing music in high school my junior year. It was a lot of R&B shit to because I thought I was a singing ass nigga but lord know I aint. I realized one day that I rap better than I sing, so I started seeing how I could do that. By the time i went to college at Albany State University, I was a regular student for the first time after being an athlete for what felt like my whole life. You know a nigga was tryna go D2 and shit. So, that was time for me to focus on other things I’m interested in besides sports which was music and photography. Started making music around 2020,2021. This was close to the time my patna Cozy Fr was also making music he started a little bit before me and shawty cold as hell with it. Ever since though I’ve been just trying to perfect what I would consider MY sound or what you can expect to hear when you think of Getaway Kam.

One day, damn near the whole world will hear something I make, even if it’s just that ONE song that just fuck’em up real bad.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Mann naaawwwl! When you try to do music and try to get things done effectively this shit be costing munyun for REAL. You be bout to have to damn near do something to a nigga about a music video, a record, anything you spend money on. The music scene changes more and more and as I see how LESS is required to actually make a hit it can mess up a nigga’s process on making it you know? You can sit and write the craziest shit ever, but if can’t nobody shake they ass to it or go spin to it it’s damn near a Gospel song. I make music for folks that listen to music, not those that just be playing shit. So yeah, it can be hard to remain focus and also have everything up to par at the same time. When you aint made it to the top yet, it’s too many niggas at the bottom to know who you even competing with.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So me (Kam), I do music as (Getaway Kam) and I do photography as (Karter Shots). I think i’ve only answered the previous questions as (Getaway Kam) lol. I am actually most proud of my photography business. It has continuously improved since I started back in 2019. I am known for both photography and music, it just depends on how, why, and where you meet me. I keep those things completely separate, which is why I say it just depends.

I hate people that use their turning signal in the turning lane.
