Today we’d like to introduce you to Alvin Stephens.
Hi Alvin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I discovered my passion for entertainment and community-building while working as a Resident Assistant in college, where I started hosting programs and events for students. What began as a role quickly became something more—I realized I had a natural ability to bring people together, create energy, and turn ordinary moments into experiences people genuinely enjoyed.
That foundation grew into Al’ Cast Productions, where I now produce, host, and curate events that center culture, creativity, and connection. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate across my campus and throughout the broader community, working with different groups and organizations to bring ideas to life. From large-scale events like Soundwave to themed shows and live performances, I’m intentional about creating experiences that feel inclusive, engaging, and memorable.
In addition to live events, I’ve built a strong online presence that reflects my voice and brand. Through my platform, Al’ Cast Speaks, I create space for real, unfiltered conversations that speak to culture, identity, and everyday experiences. It’s another extension of what I do—connecting with people, just in a different format.
At my core, I’m an entertainer, a creator, and a connector. I take pride in being able to start with an idea and see it all the way through, while also building relationships and opportunities along the way. Everything I create is rooted in purpose, and I’m focused on continuing to grow while leaving a lasting impact in every space I step into.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is navigating spaces that aren’t always open to diversity and inclusivity. As someone who creates from a place of authenticity and culture, there have been moments where people were excited about what I could produce, but not always fully accepting of who I am. That disconnect can be challenging, especially when your identity is a big part of your creativity.
I’ve also experienced situations where my work was valued, but my voice or presence wasn’t always given the same respect. Over time, I’ve had to learn how to recognize those environments, advocate for myself, and choose opportunities that align with both my purpose and my values.
At the same time, I’ve been fortunate to have a strong support system that has kept me grounded and motivated. Having people who genuinely believe in me and what I’m building has made a huge difference, especially during moments of doubt or resistance.
Those experiences have shaped how I move today. They’ve taught me resilience, self-awareness, and the importance of creating spaces that are not only impactful, but truly inclusive and affirming for everyone.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My professional life closely reflects who I am, which is why my work doesn’t feel like just a job. I currently serve as the Housing and Student Activities Coordinator at a college, where I plan and host events that bring students together and create a strong sense of community on campus.
My role can range from coordinating large-scale events like Homecoming Week to smaller, more intimate programs like a karaoke night. No matter the size, I’m intentional about creating experiences that are engaging, inclusive, and memorable for everyone involved.
What I’m most proud of is the impact these events have—creating spaces where students feel connected, involved, and valued. What sets me apart is my ability to combine creativity with organization, while also understanding how to read a room and create an atmosphere that people genuinely enjoy.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I wouldn’t be where I am without the people who have poured into me along the way. My support system—family, close friends, coworkers, and mentors—has been a constant source of strength, especially during moments when things felt uncertain or challenging.
There have been times where I’ve had to lean on them, confide in them, and be honest about what I was navigating behind the scenes. They’ve offered guidance, perspective, and sometimes just the reassurance I needed to keep going. That kind of support isn’t something I take lightly—it’s something that’s truly helped shape who I am.
I may not name everyone individually, but they know who they are. And I’m grateful not just for what they’ve done, but for how they’ve shown up for me in ways that go beyond the surface.
