Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim McClure.
Hi Kim, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been organizing my entire life. If you were to ask my best friend what I was doing every time she called me she would tell you I was always organizing. With that being said, of course I loved The Container Store and I got a job there and worked there for 2 years in my early 40’s.
While I was working there I met an organizer who shopped at The Container Store frequently, she worked for a national company who dealt in relocation and had high end clients. They provided services to unpack and organize homes and also did whole home decluttering. In one of our conversations she told me I should come and work with them. And that is exactly what I did for 5 years. With super high end clients, I can tell you that I have been trained by the most extreme OCD organizers in the business. And now I thank them profusely, at the time I wasn’t even sure I liked them LOL. Working with them as an independent contractor I was able to establish clients of my own and after 5 years I took a leap of faith and solely focused on my own business, 360 Organizing, and I have never looked back. It’s a great feeling when you find your calling and my story has been one of those when you do what you love the money will follow. So I’m very grateful for what I do, I love my clients. I love the ladies that work with me and I couldn’t think of anything else I’d rather do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part I feel very lucky and I feel like the wind has been behind me and my journey of building my business and clientele. It has not always been easy but most definitely it has NOT been a struggle. Balancing growth and having a team of people who can fulfill that has probably been the most challenging. I have not once regretted making the decision to start 360 Organizing. I am validated every day by my incredible clients. There’s nothing better than making a great living doing what you love and clients who think you hung the moon. And not only do we make a difference in people’s lives we get to see a difference and that’s very rewarding. I also have had the honor to sponsor two refugee families in the past few years from Venezuela. I am still very close to my first family I adopted and I love them dearly. It’s such a blessing to be able to help a family who has nothing and to literally fill their homes up with lots of love and beautiful things that my clients have donated especially for them. There’s nothing better than seeing a child’s face light up when you make their world a better place. That is one of the best benefits of owning your own company and being in this business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
360 Organizing offers whole home decluttering and organizing. We specialize in relocation, senior transitions and move management. We provide packing, unpacking, decorating, closet and pantry design and installs, hang artwork, spatial visualization and do holiday decorating and take down. We also organized athletes warehouses and restaurants and also liquidate businesses. How we differ from a lot of organizers we have a slew of resources to help people sell or consign items if they would like to go that route before donating items. We only offer services like this if we know the items have value, would be easy to sell and are involved in the job itself. We do not offer these services outside of moving or downsizing.
