Hidden Gems: Meet Sarai Camacho of Luma Health and Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarai Camacho.

Hi Sarai, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Seeing people do a complete 180 in their health and demeanor is what first sparked my desire to become a chiropractor. Up to that point in my life, I had no experience with chiropractic care, but I knew I could never unsee what I had witnessed in that office.

At the time, I had just graduated from undergrad and didn’t feel passionate about any particular career path. I knew I wanted to help people somehow, but I wasn’t sure what that looked like yet. Once I started working for that chiropractor, I learned so much about health and the human body, far more than I expected. After just three months, I knew this was what I wanted to do.

Not long after, I moved to California because my husband was in the military. Working in different chiropractic offices gave me perspective on the many ways chiropractic can be practiced and reinforced the kind of care and environment I wanted to help create one day.

By that point, I had already enrolled in chiropractic school, and when we eventually moved to Marietta, GA, my journey truly began.

During school, a friend told me about a mission trip to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Even though I didn’t know anyone going, I decided to go on my own, and it ended up becoming one of the most impactful experiences of my life. I had a front-row seat to the impact chiropractic care could have on people. Patients would line up every day to be adjusted because they genuinely felt better afterward.

I ended up going on four mission trips before graduating, and each one reinforced why I chose this profession. One moment that has always stayed with me was adjusting a patient in the hospital who was suffering from severe diaphragm spasms and could not sleep. After adjusting him, his spasms stopped and he was finally able to rest. Before I left, he asked if I would be coming back the next day because he felt so much better. Moments like that completely shifted my perspective on what it truly means to care for people.

Those experiences helped shape the kind of chiropractor I wanted to become someone focused not just on symptoms, but on serving people intentionally, compassionately, and wholeheartedly. That ultimately became the foundation for wanting to open my own practice

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Chiropractic school was demanding. I was taking 25 to 30 credits per quarter while preparing for board exams, which meant a lot of long nights and constant pressure.

After graduation, a new challenge began. Becoming a business owner and learning to make decisions while building something from the ground up has pushed me in entirely new ways. When you care deeply about serving people well, there can be a lot of pressure to get everything right.

Opening my practice has come with both exciting milestones and growing pains, but it has also taught me some of my biggest lessons. More than anything, I’ve learned the importance of community. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have people around me who have supported and encouraged me throughout the process, and I’m still continuing to build those relationships as I grow.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Luma Health and Chiropractic ?
I started Luma Health and Chiropractic with the goal of doing chiropractic differently. I wanted to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and supported, especially those who have felt overlooked or discouraged in their health journey.

My focus is on nervous system health. Simply put, the nervous system controls how every part of the body functions, so when it’s not functioning right, it can show up in many different ways. Through chiropractic care, I help restore that function so the body can move and adapt the way it was designed to.

I work with a wide range of patients, from athletes looking to improve performance and mobility, to babies and children, to pregnant moms preparing for a more comfortable and aligned pregnancy and birth. Each person is different, so I use a variety of techniques to tailor care to the individual.

What sets my practice apart is the intention behind the care. It is not just about relieving symptoms. It is about helping people understand their bodies, reconnect with their health, and feel empowered in the process. That is what I am most proud of and what I want every patient to experience when they walk through our doors.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for networking is simple: get out there and get involved. Being part of your local Chamber of Commerce is a great place to start. Attending events, whether after-hours or morning meetings, creates opportunities to meet people you would not normally cross paths with.

When it comes to finding a mentor, it really starts with connection. The mentors in my life came from me reaching out, asking questions, and genuinely taking their advice. Over time, they saw that I valued what they shared and was willing to implement it.

The best mentors are not just knowledgeable, they are invested. They check in, they care about your growth, and they hold you accountable. That kind of relationship goes a long way.
