Today we’d like to introduce you to Teana Mackey.
Hi Teana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a Black woman born and raised in Queens, New York, who learned how to navigate systems that weren’t necessarily built with us in mind—and now I use those same skills to create opportunities for my community.
I’ve always had a natural affinity for numbers and strategy, which led me to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing. That foundation gave me the tools to not only understand money, but to communicate it in a way that’s practical and applicable to real life. Over time, I realized that instead of trying to succeed within traditional spaces that often feel exclusive, I could build something of my own—something designed with intention for the people I care about most.
Today, I focus on helping Black women under 40 position themselves to become high-income earners—without burnout or back-breaking work. Our community is often overworked, overlooked, and yet holds incredible buying power and influence. My mission is to shift how we engage with money so that we’re not just earning, but building something that lasts.
I see myself as a bridge—both between generations and between knowledge and execution. As someone born in 1999, I’ve experienced both the offline and digital worlds in a way that lets me see a wide range of perspectives. I’ve also noticed that along the way, we’ve lost certain recipes – especially when it comes to financial literacy and wealth-building.
Through my brand, Naori Industries, I’m committed to restoring that knowledge in a way that is simple, practical, and generational—so that wealth is no longer something we chase, but something we build and sustain collectively.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t necessarily describe the journey as “smooth,” but it’s been incredibly formative. While I’ve always had a natural interest in numbers and strategy, developing a true understanding of how to apply financial concepts in real life took time, discipline, and intention. Studying finance at the collegiate level is demanding on its own, and navigating that while managing the broader life experience of college added another layer of complexity.
Mental health was also a very real factor. There were moments where the pressure could have easily become overwhelming, and I had to be intentional about maintaining balance and not allowing myself to fall into that space. As a cherry on top, the COVID pandemic disrupted a pivotal time in my life, taking away my senior year experience and forcing an abrupt transition into the next phase of adulthood.
From the outside, my path may look traditional — graduating high school, completing four years of college, and entering the workforce—but the internal journey required resilience, adaptability, and continuous growth. Now, building my career and brand from the ground up has been its own learning curve. It’s been both challenging and rewarding, pushing me to evolve in ways that have ultimately strengthened my purpose and direction.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Naori Industries is a strategic financial and lifestyle brand designed to help individuals—particularly Black women—build wealth in a way that is intentional, sustainable, and aligned with the life they actually want to live. At its core, I position myself as your must have money team member—someone who not only understands the numbers, but is also legally allowed to help you apply them in real life.
My work sits at the intersection of financial literacy, income strategy, and brand development. I support clients in multiple ways—whether that’s helping them understand foundational financial concepts, organizing their finances, developing additional income streams, or building and positioning their own brands. The goal is always the same: to move people from simply earning money to actually building wealth.
For those at the beginning of their journey, I offer digital resources that break down financial concepts in a way that is simple, practical, and easy to apply. For individuals who are ready to take action and want more personalized guidance, I’m preparing to launch the “Soft Wealth Plan” — a program designed to help Black women under 40 create a clear vision, build a strong financial foundation, and position themselves to become 7-figure earners without burnout.
What sets Naori Industries apart is that I don’t just teach theory—I actively live the principles I share. I explore multiple income avenues, from business ventures like vending machines to creative work such as audiobook narration, while also investing with the intention of funding my long-term lifestyle. That real-time experience allows me to guide others from a place of both knowledge and execution.
Beyond the services, the brand itself represents a mindset shift. I want people to understand that their lives are not limited to traditional paths or expectations. Wealth, freedom, and flexibility are all attainable—but they require intention, strategy, and the right information.
Ultimately, what I’m most proud of is building a brand that not only educates, but empowers people to see what’s possible—and then equips them with the tools to actually make it happen.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I view “luck” as more of a foundation than a determining factor. I was fortunate to have parents who prioritized exposure and opportunity, which gave me a broader perspective early on. For example, I had the chance to travel internationally at a young age — experiences that helped shape how I see the world and what I believed was possible for my life.
That said, everything beyond that foundation has been the result of intentional effort, discipline, and focus. I was always academically driven, with a strong interest in both Math and English, which helped me earn scholarships and navigate my way through college. My journey through higher education, especially during such a transitional time globally, came with its own set of challenges, but it strengthened my resilience and clarity.
Where I am today is not by chance — it’s the result of consistently making decisions that align with the life I desire to build. I’ve been very intentional about designing a path that allows me to create wealth on my own terms, rather than following a traditional route that doesn’t resonate with me.
Ultimately, I don’t rely on luck to shape my outcomes. I rely on strategy, consistency, and the belief that I can build something greater — not just for myself, but for the generations that come after me.
