Today we’d like to introduce you to M. Chandell Shorter.
Hi M. Chandell, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Pastor M. Chandell Shorter is a visionary entrepreneur, prophetic voice, author, and transformational leader whose life’s work bridges beauty, business, ministry, and community impact. As the founder and CEO of GodsComplete Design, LLC — known by many as “Hair by God” — she has cultivated more than a salon experience; she has created a sanctuary of restoration, confidence, and healing through the artistry of Sisterlocks®, Microlocks, and holistic beauty care. Her brand has become synonymous with excellence, authenticity, and empowerment, serving clients with both professional precision and spiritual compassion.
Beyond the beauty industry, Pastor Shorter is the founder of GodsComplete Design International, a global ministry movement committed to reconciling people back to God through prophetic ministry, evangelism, mentorship, and transformational outreach. With a ministry reach extending internationally, including Africa, she is recognized for her bold apostolic leadership, revelatory teaching, and heart for healing broken lives. Her message consistently calls people to live from the inside out — embracing identity, purpose, faith, and wholeness.
A respected strategist and executive leader with more than two decades of experience in corporate leadership, project management, governance, and organizational transformation, Pastor Shorter carries a rare ability to merge marketplace excellence with Kingdom purpose. Whether leading enterprise initiatives, mentoring emerging leaders, or ministering across generations, she is known for her wisdom, innovation, and unwavering commitment to empowering others.
She is also the author of And the Love Got Louder, a heartfelt and transformative work reflecting themes of healing, resilience, identity, and the redemptive power of God’s love. In addition, she serves as the founder of Love Out Loud Now, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting communities through mentorship, youth empowerment, financial literacy, scholarship initiatives, and acts of compassion that demonstrate the love of Christ in tangible ways.
Known for her signature aesthetic of warm desert neutrals, golds, grunge blacks, and prophetic creativity, Pastor M. Chandell Shorter continues to redefine what it means to lead with authenticity, faith, innovation, and impact. Her life’s mission remains clear: to inspire people to breathe again, heal completely, and boldly walk in the fullness of who God created them to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There was a season when survival became her personality.
A veteran taught to endure.
A Black woman taught to excel twice as hard.
A leader taught that failure was never an option.
So she became strong before she became healed.
Productive before she became whole.
Reliable before she ever rested.
Pastor M. Chandell Shorter learned early how to wear strength like armor. In the military, in corporate boardrooms, in ministry, and in business, she mastered precision, discipline, and performance. But behind the excellence was a silent battle many Black women know too well — the unspoken burden of the “hero syndrome.” The pressure to save everyone. Carry everyone. Fix everything. Smile through exhaustion. Produce under pressure. Bleed quietly while still showing up polished.
Perfection became protection.
Overachievement became a disguise for pain.
Victory became complicated because people often celebrated her strength while overlooking her humanity.
She discovered one of life’s hardest truths: sometimes the greatest battle is not against failure, but against people’s expectations, projections, jealousy, and dependence on your ability to keep carrying what was never assigned to you by God. There were seasons where she won publicly while privately fighting fatigue, disappointment, betrayal, and the emotional cost of always being “the strong one.”
Yet through every challenge, she remained anchored by faith.
Not shallow faith.
Not performative faith.
But the kind forged in tears, warfare, uncertainty, and obedience.
Through consistency, stewardship, sacrifice, and unwavering trust in God, generational cycles began to break. Financial curses that once whispered “lack,” “survival,” and “barely enough” lost their grip. She learned that true wealth was not built overnight, but through disciplined obedience, wisdom, vision, and the courage to keep building when nothing around you looked certain.
A woman who stopped measuring herself by how much she could carry for others and finally embraced who she was in God. A woman who transformed pain into purpose, pressure into power, and consistency into legacy. Through GodsComplete Design, LLC, GodsComplete Design International, and Love Out Loud Now, Inc., she continues to build spaces where healing, faith, excellence, and transformation collide.
Today, her victory is no longer rooted in proving herself to people.
It is rooted in peace.
In alignment.
In purpose.
And in the undeniable evidence that God can take a woman who survived impossible seasons and teach her not just how to survive — but how to reign.
She knows what it feels like to lose everything.
Not the polished version people post after the breakthrough.
The real version.
The nights filled with uncertainty.
The humiliation of starting over.
The silent tears behind forced strength.
The exhaustion of carrying vision while life seemed to collapse around her.
Pastor M. Chandell Shorter’s journey is one marked by resilience, faith, and radical transformation. There was a season when bankruptcy, instability, and emotional survival attempted to define her future. Dreams were delayed. Doors closed. Resources dried up. And for a moment, it felt as though life had reduced her to survival mode. Homelessness was not just the absence of a place — it was the feeling of being disconnected from security, certainty, and rest.
But even in broken places, purpose remained alive. What makes her story powerful is that she did not escape hardship overnight. She rebuilt through consistency. Through faith when there was no visible evidence. Through discipline when emotions wanted to quit. Through obedience when logic said stop.
She learned how to survive with dignity before she learned how to build wealth with wisdom.
While others saw setbacks, she saw training.
While others saw loss, God was building endurance.
While others counted her out, heaven was reconstructing her identity.
The same woman who once questioned how she would make it through became the founder of GodsComplete Design, LLC, a thriving beauty and lifestyle brand known as “Hair by God.” She expanded into ministry through GodsComplete Design International, pouring healing into others while healing herself. She became an author, visionary leader, executive strategist, and founder of Love Out Loud Now, Inc., creating pathways for empowerment, outreach, and restoration in the community.
Her testimony is not merely about money.
It is about freedom.
Freedom from survival thinking.
Freedom from generational poverty.
Freedom from fear, scarcity, and the pressure to prove herself through struggle.
Today, Pastor Shorter stands as a living witness that bankruptcy is not the end of a story. Homelessness is not the final chapter. Loss does not cancel destiny. Through faith, consistency, wisdom, and relentless perseverance, she transformed pain into purpose and instability into legacy.
Her life declares a powerful truth:
God still rebuilds.
God still restores.
And sometimes the people who hit rock bottom become the very ones chosen to show others how to rise.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
GodsComplete Design, LLC believes true success is not built through competition, but through collaboration, mentorship, sponsorship, and authentic sisterhood. As creatives, entrepreneurs, ministry leaders, and visionaries, we have the power to build ecosystems that create both financial freedom and spiritual impact for generations to come.
Too often, gifted women are isolated — carrying vision alone, navigating business without guidance, and building brands without access to mentorship, resources, or opportunity. Our mission is to change that narrative by creating spaces where women can partner together intentionally instead of competing unnecessarily.
We believe mentorship provides wisdom, sponsorship opens doors, and sisterhood sustains the journey.
At GodsComplete Design, collaboration means creating opportunities for creatives to grow together through networking events, empowerment gatherings, educational workshops, business development, financial literacy, wellness conversations, ministry initiatives, and community outreach. We want women to understand that their gifts are connected to purpose, influence, and legacy — not just income.
Spiritually, we aim to cultivate environments where healing, accountability, faith, prayer, and purpose can coexist with entrepreneurship and creativity. Financially, we want to help women build sustainable businesses, multiple streams of income, ownership, visibility, and long-term wealth that can impact families and communities.
What makes this movement impactful is that it is rooted in authenticity. We are building a culture where women can be seen, supported, sharpened, and celebrated without feeling the pressure to perform perfection. Through intentional partnership, shared resources, mentorship circles, and collaborative opportunities, we believe creatives can collectively break cycles of limitation and build lasting influence.
GodsComplete Design is not simply building a brand — we are building a community of purpose-driven women committed to healing, growth, leadership, faith, and generational impact together.
