Community Highlights: Meet Tanisha Tucker of TNT Catering & Events LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanisha Tucker.

Hi Tanisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into the culinary world started long before I ever stepped into a professional kitchen. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, and growing up as the oldest of nine children, food was the vibrant heartbeat of our home. I learned early on that a meal is a powerful force—it brings people together, fills a room with energy, and transforms a regular gathering into a celebration. That foundational experience shaped my entire approach to hospitality: I learned that the most memorable moments in life happen around a shared table.

Years later, after honing my craft and cultivating that deep-rooted passion for hosting, I decided to take the leap and launch TNT Catering & Events in the Atlanta area. The vision wasn’t just to build a catering company; it was to redefine what event dining could look like. I wanted to move away from predictable, cookie-cutter banquet menus and focus instead on high-end, bespoke culinary storytelling.

In the early days, it was all about building a reputation for uncompromising quality and bold flavor. As the business grew, we carved out a distinct niche by leaning into highly customized, elevated concepts. We became known for pushing boundaries—whether that meant designing intricate, multi-course bourbon-paired dinners, crafting specialized, scratch-made flavor profiles, or executing complex, high-end menus with flawless precision.

Today, TNT Catering & Events has evolved from a passionate dream into a thriving reality. We have the privilege of helping clients celebrate their most significant milestones, bringing a signature blend of gourmet innovation and seamless execution to tables across the region. We got to where we are today by never cutting corners, treating every event like it’s our own, and staying fiercely dedicated to the art of the experience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Following your passion is never a smooth road. It’s a journey that demands constant evolution and the willingness to find a purposeful lesson in every single setback. Looking back, my road has been defined by both incredible mentorship and profound personal challenges.
In the early days, many of the hurdles were structural. Navigating professional kitchens as a young woman in a heavily male-dominated space came with distinct pressures. I have always been fiercely passionate and outspoken about my craft, which can sometimes be misinterpreted in traditional kitchen hierarchies. However, that same passion is what kept me grounded. I learned to develop a thick skin, stand firmly in my worth, and focus on the work. Along the way, I’ve been incredibly blessed to work alongside some remarkably talented chefs who helped me continuously expand my culinary knowledge and sharpen my skill set.
But the most difficult part of the road wasn’t just proving myself to the industry—it was learning how to balance my ambition with my well-being. At one point, I was stretching myself to the absolute limit, simultaneously running a staffing agency, building my catering company, and working a demanding corporate job at a Fortune 500 company. I was trying to hold up the world, and the sheer gravity of that hustle took a devastating personal toll, ultimately leading to a miscarriage.
It was a heartbreaking, pivotal moment that forced me to stop and reevaluate everything. It taught me the hard way that you cannot pour from an empty cup, and it forced me to streamline my life. Out of that profound pain came absolute clarity. I made the conscious choice to let go of the extra noise and pour my entire heart, soul, and focus exclusively into my true passion: catering and events. Every sacrifice and every scar has taught me resilience, and I carry those lessons into every menu I design and every room we serve today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At TNT Catering & Events, we specialize in high-end, bespoke culinary experiences, with a signature focus on luxury Caribbean fusion. Bringing together the bold, soulful flavors of my heritage with refined global techniques is my life’s work. I have been cooking for over 30 years, and every ounce of that seasoned expertise is poured into the menus we design. We are known for pushing culinary boundaries—whether we are crafting vibrant, multi-course menus or executing intricate, spirit-paired dining experiences.

What truly sets us apart, however, isn’t just the food on the plate; it’s the heartbeat behind the business. Our entire foundation is built on a simple, unchanging structure: Faith, Family, and Love over everything.
I built this company on the Golden Rule of hospitality. I want every single guest to feel exactly how I would want to feel if I were sitting at my own family’s table—welcomed, cherished, and meticulously cared for. Because of that, we don’t look at bookings as just transactions or events. I treat every single wedding, gala, and private dinner as if it is a member of my own family that I have the absolute honor of celebrating.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of our uncompromising dedication to the art of the experience. That love and creativity shine through in every single phase of our work, from the very first mood board and planning session to the final execution on event night. When readers and future clients look at our brand, I want them to know that they aren’t just hiring a caterer. They are partnering with a team that delivers food filled with deep passion, prepared with love, and presented in a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and stunning aesthetics. We don’t just feed people; we honor them.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
When it comes to working with us, we are always looking to expand our client family for luxury catering, but the collaborations I am most deeply passionate about right now are rooted in community impact. My ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between high-end culinary arts and the next generation.

Within our community, there are so many children who have never had the opportunity to step inside a fine dining restaurant, let alone understand what it means to experience a meal outside of the bare basics. I want to change that. I am on a mission to launch specialized cooking classes and culinary workshops designed for youth of all cultural backgrounds and genders. Food is a universal language, and by sharing food knowledge, we can cultivate confidence, spark creativity, and completely broaden a child’s horizon.

To bring this vision to life, I am actively looking to build ecosystem partnerships. I want to collaborate with local restaurants, food markets, local farmers, and ranches who share this heart for the community. Together, we can create immersive experiences for young people—and adults alike—showing them where their food comes from, how it is nurtured, and how it can be transformed with passion and love.

Whether you are a local business owner looking to partner on youth initiatives, a family celebrating a milestone that needs an unforgettable menu, or someone who simply wants to support our mission by spreading the word and following our journey, there is a place for you at our table. Let’s connect, create, and lift up our community together.
