Life & Work with Ugonna Love of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ugonna Love.

Hi Ugonna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
add being a therpaist and life style content creator

My journey really started with my heart for people and my desire to create safe spaces where others feel seen, supported, and understood. Growing up, I watched my mom operate an in-home daycare for over two decades, caring for medically fragile children and children with disabilities. Seeing the level of patience, compassion, and advocacy she showed every day deeply shaped the way I view helping professions and community care.

As I got older, I realized I was especially drawn to emotional wellness, relationships, and helping people navigate life transitions. That passion eventually led me into the counseling field, where I now work as a therapist and play therapist supporting children, teens, and adults. A lot of my work focuses on helping clients process difficult experiences, build emotional awareness, strengthen self-esteem, and develop healthier ways of coping and connecting.

At the same time, I also began sharing parts of my life online as a lifestyle content creator. What started as simply expressing myself evolved into a platform where I can talk about mental health, faith, wellness, personal growth, and everyday life in a more relatable and authentic way. I love being able to connect with people both inside and outside of the therapy space and show that healing and growth can look different for everyone.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many people building something meaningful, my journey hasn’t been perfectly linear. There have been seasons of growth, uncertainty, learning, and having to trust myself more deeply. But each experience has shaped both the therapist and creator I am today. I’ve learned the importance of authenticity, balance, and creating spaces, whether in therapy sessions or online, where people feel safe enough to be themselves

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a therapist, play therapist, and lifestyle content creator who is passionate about helping people feel seen, supported, and empowered in every stage of life. In my counseling work, I primarily work with children, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, grief, emotional regulation, relationship difficulties, and family-related stressors. I also have a strong passion for helping clients process experiences that impact their identity, confidence, and overall emotional well-being.

One thing that really shapes my approach is my ability to connect with people in a genuine and relatable way. I believe therapy should feel human, safe, and approachable, not intimidating or overly clinical. I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable showing up exactly as they are. As a play therapist, I also love helping children express emotions in developmentally appropriate ways and supporting families through difficult transitions.

Outside of therapy, I create lifestyle and mental health content that blends wellness, faith, personal growth, and everyday life. I enjoy using my platform to normalize conversations around mental health while also showing the importance of balance, authenticity, and grace. A lot of people connect with my content because it feels honest and relatable rather than perfect or performative.

What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve been able to make both in and outside of the therapy room. Whether it’s helping a client gain confidence, supporting a child through a difficult season, or creating content that reminds someone they’re not alone, those moments mean the most to me.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Without a doubt, my mom deserves a huge amount of credit for the person and professional I’ve become. Growing up, I watched her dedicate over 20 years to operating an in-home daycare where she cared for medically fragile children and children with disabilities. She taught me what compassion, patience, consistency, and selflessness truly look like through the way she showed up for families every single day.

Seeing the impact she had on people’s lives inspired so much of my own passion for helping others. She created environments where children felt safe, loved, and cared for, and I think that deeply influenced the way I approach both therapy and the spaces I try to create online. Even now, a lot of the empathy, warmth, and resilience I bring into my work comes from watching her lead by example.

She’s also been one of my biggest supporters throughout my journey. Whether it was encouraging me during difficult seasons, believing in me when I doubted myself, or simply reminding me to keep going, her support has meant everything. Building a career in mental health and content creation can be challenging at times, but having someone who constantly pours belief and encouragement into you makes a huge difference.

I’m incredibly grateful for the example she set and the foundation she gave me. A lot of what I do today is rooted in lessons I first learned from her.
