Conversations with Joshua McCullar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua McCullar.

Hi Joshua, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
So I’m not sure if you know but I work in the fashion industry. I am an assistant to celebrity stylist Daniel Hawkins. I started my career in the industry about 10 years ago. Daniel who is also one of my closest friends needed help and I was there to assist. As time went on I realized how much I enjoyed the job and I turned into a real thing lol. I’m about 10 years in the game now.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly my journey is so different from most because I will say mines was kind of handed to me. Having a friend who put me on was unlike most peoples stories so I would say no I didn’t face a lot of struggles to get to where I am.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am known as one of the best assistants to ever do it! I basically handle all the foot work when the stylist isn’t available to do fittings or even show up on set. I’m very proud of the commitment, dedication and loyalty I put into this. Although my journey was not hard the industry is a beast. All clients are not easy to work with so it takes a strong individual to know how to keep it professional and not take anything personal. What sets me apart from others is that i pay very close attention to detail. It’s not a good look when slip ups happen, although they do happen you have to be very skilled at know in when and how to pivot.

My friend Daniel who is the head stylist deserves all the credit. If it wasn’t for him giving me and trusting me the opportunity I wouldn’t be here.
