Today we’d like to introduce you to Adreon Patterson.
Hi Adreon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my entrepreneurial journey in 2010, working as a freelancer or independent contractor for multiple companies and brands. After a period of rest due ot burnout, I returned to independent contracting in 2017. By 2020, I was tired of working under others’ demands and time constraints. So, I decided to turn my freelance work into a full-fledged business during the COVID-19 pandemic, as many other entrepreneurs did, after a soft relaunch earlier in the year.
Since then, I have slowly built my business while maintaining other sources of income to keep my lifestyle and business going. My work in the creative industry has enabled me to expand into other fields, including finance and politics. I continue to network and sell my services to support ongoing growth.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any business, the road to success and stability hasn’t been the easiest. Cash flow, client retention, and marketing are great sources of struggle for me. I’ve done my part to remedy those situations; however, I’m trying to find a balance as we all navigate these new challenges our economy is currently facing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Patterson Creative is a single-member LLC and creative marketing and branding agency dedicated to helping small and mid-sized businesses expand their customer base and reach. The agency specializes in providing clients with writing, graphic design, and communications services; they may not have the resources or manpower for creative marketing and brand strategy in an ever-evolving market.
Aiding a local political campaign to find its brand and voice is one of the agency’s greatest accomplishments so far. Seeing your work on park benches, city buses, and more made me really proud. It only motivates me to pursue bigger opportunities in my area.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
As an audiophile, I listen to multiple podcasts, including Here’s the Thing, NPR’s Code Switch and It’s Been a Minute, The Only Black Kids in the Class, Baby, It’s KeKe Palmer, and The Read. Some podcasts keep me informed of what is going on politically or culturally, while others are nice escapes from everyday life.
