Today we’d like to introduce you to Nineside.
Hi Nineside, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had never thought about being a music artist. Although my first love was music, I was content with just being a listener with an ear for good music. I was more of a sports guy anyway. Once the pandemic hit, I forced myself to learn new skills, and I gained the ability to record, mix, and master my own music as well as others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The hardest part of the job, for me, was molding myself and cultivating the skill gap to start creating music with substance. The realistic view of yourself is extremely important to have, it helped me see my flaws and weaknesses, but also allowed me to see how I could improve my processes all around . I met people along the way who took advantage of me since I was still learning the game, but that wasn’t hard to deal with because I was always skeptical of people in the business anyway, but I understand now that working on projects in home and building organically is the best way to grow.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an international recording artist and engineer. I’ve been in publications and on radio from the U.S. to the U.K. and beyond, that’s why I’ve coined myself “International 9”
I’m known for melodic harmony and strait laced bars packing insurmountable value. Early in my career was experimental, because I want to write, produce, and engineer across genres, but my main style has garnered attention through hip-hop and RnB, and elements of both, and other genres, rolled into alternative and contemporary styles
I’m proud of my growth. I wouldn’t have been able to gain the skill level I have now without the daily, weekly, monthly grind of being a creative. The growth of the artist and the man have shaped what music has become.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My faith in God, who never lets my prayers fall on deaf ears,
My manager Zack who’s been my manager from the start of my career.
My brothers YessaThaFloet and Zeus Guap, they always help me elevate my sound and my way of thinkings when approaching a project or situation. They both push me to be better cause I look up to them so much as artists.
My family and friends who are a real support system, and not living everyday as “yes” men. Giving me both the love and criticism I need to look at things for what they are and realistically plan for the trajectory of my career and my life.
My daughter. Even though she didn’t ask to be here or doesn’t understand what I’m doing, she’s one of, if not the biggest motivating factor in my life.
Everyone I’ve met along the way, good and bad, because they helped shape the artist you see before you.
