Daily Inspiration: Meet Fabio Arauz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabio Arauz.

Hi Fabio, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is similar to most in this field. I made music and over time I fell in love with “chasing the sound”.
We all grew up with records that influenced us and I just became fascinated with how they got those to sound the way they did.
Eventually I attended an audio program in 2012 and it’s had me on the path I’ve been on since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road.
From being in an oversaturated market and having to “learn on the job”, it definitely makes it challenging.
It’s all about building relationships and that takes many hours that you will never get back, but it makes it worth it when you land a gig.
I’ve applied for countless jobs that never called back or told me I wasn’t a good fit.
Even building your own business has many challenges like managing everyones schedule, handling multiple clients, saying yes to things you don’t know but HAVE to make it work.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I would say that my career is split into 3.
One, is running a recording studio. Second is voice over and ADR work and third is On Location Sound.

I love that there are so many parts to this industry and being able to explore multiple has been really exciting.

I’ve got to work on ADR for films and voice overs for tv shows across all major platforms as well as music of all genres.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck only comes as “opportunity”, and from there you have to “deliver”.
Some of the jobs that I’ve been involved with, I lucked out by being available when the main engineer of the project wasn’t available but I also had to deliver at the same capacity.
Without being able to deliver then the “luck” would have just turned into bad luck.
