Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Francis.
Hi Shawn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From the moment I walked off the stage at the end of The Nutcracker in 4th grade elementary school I knew I discovered something new I wanted to do forever. However, at the age of 10 I didn’t know exactly how to describe this new found experience. All I knew was that it produced a feeling I wanted to experience again and again. Loving acting at such a young age was best for me because now at 38 years old, I continue to tap into that happy place as a child whenever I perform. This has led me to remain humble, eager to learn, while wanting to become the best actor I can be today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Acting has a way of challenging every single aspect of a person’s life. Before you can even consider the lifestyle challenges, choosing to become a great actor will require you to deeply learn yourself. It requires you to face past situations, past relationships, previous experiences, and to become vulnerable to the emotions needed from them. This is part of the beauty of acting. Because as you become a stronger actor, thats typically a reflection of you learning yourself deeper, and growing as an individual. One of the best things Ive allowed myself to do while pursuing my career in acting was falling in love with the journey. Whether it be not hearing back from an audition you know you did extremely well on to standing on a red carpet as photographers snap photos of you for your premiere film you have to love it all.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a story teller, a performer, a heart toucher, an emotion mover, or as some call it, an actor. My job is to allow the viewers who are watching for the time being to completely step away from their World, and to hopefully feel, see, think, and believe the story that my character is portraying on their tv screen. I specialize in inspiring others wanting to pursue this life long journey of acting and exemplify how to fall in love with the process. It is my job and responsibility to deliver a story where by time the viewer is done watching, they not only have been influenced, but emotionally moved.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was getting booked for a Nickelodeon commercial with my brother. It is one thing to have an opportunity to even be on a Nickelodeon set but to do it with my brother was something I am always grateful for and will never forget.
