Today we’d like to introduce you to Cayward Wiggins.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born on March 13, 1971 in the city of Atlanta, Georgia to Mr. Hayward and Mrs. Josie Wiggins. I am the only child that they had. As a younger kid, I had to deal with being over weight. I was told by my doctor that my growth would be stunted if I did not lose weight. Through the tough love of my mom, I was placed on a diet that allowed me to lose the necessary weight that allowed me to grow without hinderance. Growing up as an only child had its good and bad points. On one end, I had all of the toys I wanted. On the other end, there was no one there to share those gifts in playtime. However, I moved forward knowing that I would not have any other brothers and sisters. I was inspired by my parents to do all that I could do to prepare myself for life. My mom and I gave our life to Jesus when I was just 8 years old. This has been the foundation that has allowed me to grow and mature to where I am this day. Interestingly, my mom taught the Lord’s prayer many years before when I was only 5 years old. Growing up, I watched my mom operate a successful in-home childcare business for many years, and I saw my mom and dad operate a successful business as being the neighborhood candy lady. From their example, I always wanted to work to have my own things. My mom always told me that I could do anything that I set my mind to do, and my dad always encouraged me to put some money back for savings. This led me to seek my post education to position myself to be successful. I embarked on my post high school journey at West Georgia College where I desired to major in psychology. After attending this school for only two quarters, I found out that psychology would not be the path for me and my grads would cause me to have to seek other educational options. I found myself at Dekalb College where I began to seek a major in business. This would be a blessing in disguise because I would be introduced to a beautiful young lady who would later become my wife who I am still married to 26 years later. When Dekalb College didn’t have any more classes for me to take towards my degree, I transferred to Dekalb Technical College where I would receive my Associates of Applied Arts degree. I followed this journey to earn my Bachelors Degree from Shorter University and my Masters Degree at Liberty University. Recently, I also received my Doctorate Degree in business from Liberty University as well. I am currently active at my church home (The Greater Body of Christ Temple) where I serve as an elder and executive pastor elect. Through the guidance of God, I am looking forward to starting my own business and helping others as God leads me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I believe that the only obstacle I have really faced is the one in my mind. I believe that if I believe it, I can achieve it. However, if I doubt it, I will be without it. It is a challenge to maintain a positive outlook in the face of adversity when you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. This is when faith must be exercised so that it is possible to see the conclusion of each matter.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
