Meet Jada Slaughter of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Slaughter.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Made By Jada out of a passion for creating meaningful, personalized products that help people celebrate life’s special moments. What began as a creative outlet quickly grew into a business offering custom apparel, hand-painted banners, event signage, mugs, branding materials, and more.

Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been perfect. I’ve balanced motherhood, full-time work, personal challenges, and the ups and downs of building a business from the ground up. Through every challenge, I’ve continued to invest in my skills, equipment, and vision because I believe in creating something bigger than myself.

Today, Made By Jada serves individuals, families, schools, organizations, and small businesses looking for custom products that feel personal and intentional. My goal is not only to create quality products but also to inspire others to pursue their purpose, trust the process, and keep going even when the journey gets difficult.

I’m still growing, learning, and expanding, but every order, customer, and opportunity reminds me that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building a business while navigating major life changes, financial responsibilities, and motherhood. There have been times when I was learning new equipment, investing in supplies, troubleshooting production issues, and fulfilling customer orders all at the same time.

As a small business owner, I’ve learned that entrepreneurship requires resilience. There are slow seasons, unexpected expenses, equipment failures, shipping challenges, and moments of self-doubt. I’ve also had to learn how to price my work properly, set boundaries with customers, and operate like a business rather than a hobby.

Despite those challenges, every obstacle has helped me grow. Each mistake became a lesson, each setback made me more resourceful, and each satisfied customer reminded me why I started. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has strengthened my confidence and reinforced my commitment to building a business that I’m proud of.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and creative force behind Made By Jada, a custom apparel and design business specializing in hand-painted banners, custom apparel, event signage, promotional products, branding materials, and personalized gifts. I enjoy helping individuals, families, organizations, and small businesses bring their ideas to life through custom designs that are both meaningful and memorable.

What I am most proud of is building a business from the ground up while continuously learning new skills and expanding my services. Whether I’m painting a banner by hand, creating custom shirts for an event, designing business materials, or producing branded merchandise, I take pride in creating products that help people celebrate important moments and promote their businesses with confidence.

What sets me apart is the personal touch I bring to every project. I work closely with my clients, pay attention to the details, and genuinely care about the final result. Many of my products are created by hand, allowing me to offer a level of customization and creativity that can’t always be found through larger companies. My goal is for every customer to feel seen, heard, and excited about the finished product.

As Made By Jada continues to grow, I remain committed to providing quality work, excellent customer service, and creative solutions that leave a lasting impression.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have been fortunate to have an incredible support system throughout my journey. My mother, Tawanda and sister, Jori have been among my biggest supporters from the very beginning. My sister has always held me accountable, especially when it comes to professionalism and customer service. She encourages me to communicate clearly, stay organized, and continue treating my business like the company I know it can become. Her belief in me was especially meaningful when she gifted me funds to help establish my LLC, which was a major milestone for my business.

My mother has never second-guessed investing in my dreams. Whether it was surprising me with a new iPad, helping me purchase equipment like my Cricut, or recommending my business to people in her professional network, she has consistently supported my growth. Some of my opportunities have come simply because she was willing to mention my name in rooms I wasn’t in yet. Her confidence in my abilities has encouraged me to keep believing in myself.

My son, Jayce, is one of my greatest motivations. He inspires me to continue building something meaningful and reminds me why perseverance matters. I hope that through my journey, he sees the value of hard work, creativity, and chasing your goals even when the path isn’t easy.

My mentor, Janae, who works in the custom apparel and marketing industry, has also played an important role in my journey. She has been incredibly generous with her knowledge, offering advice, sharing creative ideas, and helping guide me in the right direction. Having someone willing to pour into me and encourage my growth has been invaluable.

Clients like Bianca Knight have also played a meaningful role in my journey. She trusted me to create the apparel for her Speed Camp, giving me the opportunity to showcase Made By Jada on a larger scale. Her confidence in my work and continued support have helped me grow not only as a business owner but also as a creative.

I’m also grateful for every customer, supporter, and fellow entrepreneur who has encouraged me along the way. Building a business may seem like a solo journey, but the truth is that success is often made possible by the people who believe in you, support you, and help open doors along the way.
