Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristyl Kimbrough.
Cristyl, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a one trick pony. I started my legal career in real estate law and have no plans on leaving the world of real estate law. When I started, I was a one woman show having to conduct the entire closing process from beginning to end by myself. I prepared the closing documents at my home office and met clients at the State Bar of Georgia. It wasn’t until an entire year later that I was in a position to get an office space and another year after that before I started hiring staff. I closed roughly 16 closings in my first full year of starting my firm in 2013. Today, we close roughly 35 closings per month. We are dependent on our clients to spread the word about our service and rely on our great service to encourage them to do that.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, it was difficult first starting out. I don’t know any great victories that didn’t begin with adversity. My problem like many non-trust fund kids was capital. How do I generate enough capital to generate the resources that I need?
I suggest all women have coffee with as many possible mentors as possible. Evaluate your risk from all angles before committing to your business plan. Oh and also– create a business plan!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Kimbrough Swift LLC – what should we know?
I am a real estate closing attorney. I’m the person you need when you purchase or sell a home or investment property. A closing attorney is required by law, so you might as well exercise your right to choose the closing firm. As the buyer, you would ensure we are included as the closing firm in your offer to the seller. As a seller, you would counter the buyer’s offer and include Kimbrough|Swift as the closing firm.
