Alexia Ford shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Alexia , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Without a doubt, I’d hire me.
I’ve spent almost 30 years building not just skills, but a passion for transforming spaces and lives. What started as a hobby grew into a true passion and eventually became my career. As the founder of Passion Organizing, I’ve led “The Organizing Army” a team of twelve to date into homes and businesses across the US, creating systems that actually work for real life not just for social media. I know how to get things done quickly, efficiently, and with heart.
My clients trust me because I listen, problem-solve, and make the process feel easy (and even fun) for them. I’ve been honored to work alongside incredible brands like The Container Store, serve in leadership roles in national organizing associations, and mentor others in this industry. But what really matters to me is leaving every space better than I found it. Being the perfectionist that I am, you can trust that I’ll get the job done right the first time. I’ve seen approaches that simply don’t make sense but my clients can take comfort knowing I’ll always create systems that are clear, functional, and logical. Making it make sense isn’t just my standard, it’s the only way I know how to work.
If I hired me, I’d be getting someone who truly cares as much about the people as the projects, shows up prepared, and won’t stop until the job is done right. That’s the kind of person I want on my team and the kind of person I am.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Alexia “Lexy” Ford, founder of Passion Organizing, also known as “The Organizing Army.” For nearly a decade, my team and I have specialized in transforming homes and businesses through organizing, organized packing, organized unpacking, move coordination, custom space design, custom space installation, standard cleaning, and premium cleaning services, to name a few. But more than that, I’m in the business of changing lives. Every project is about more than just the space. It’s about creating peace, order, and systems that actually work for the people who use them.
What sets Passion Organizing apart is our family-oriented, team-based approach. Most professional organizers work solo or rely only on friends and family for help. I’ve intentionally built a fully functioning professional team of trained, fully background checked, organizers and administrative staff who genuinely love what they do. Together, we ensure every client and project gets the time, attention, and care it deserves.
Right now, I’m working on publishing a few books, expanding our services, and taking courses to broaden my knowledge in areas that naturally blend with organizing, to name a few things I’m working on while still keeping a few things a secret.
Every step is about finding new ways to serve while maintaining the heart, integrity, and excellence that built our reputation.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The first time I truly felt powerful was in my 40’s. My childhood wasn’t easy my father passed away when I was young, my mother had her own struggles, and I often felt neglected, unloved and unimportant. For years, I doubted myself and my value. I even worried that my memory challenges might signal early-onset dementia. Learning from my doctor that my brain never truly shuts down explained a lot, but it didn’t take away my gift for using my hands and eyes to transform spaces my foundation for Passion Organizing.
The day I launched my business, I felt a power I had never known. That power grew with each milestone like booking my first high five-figure job, being featured in several magazines, articles, and podcasts, and ultimately appearing on The Portia Show, seeing my life via a Google search, being spotted in public by a lady who stated, “There goes Passion” (I didn’t know that became my name), and most recently being referred to a client from AI.
Each moment was proof that the woman who once felt invisible had created something meaningful and impactful that couldn’t be ignored.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Life has a way of testing you. I’ve felt it not having my father, raising my kids without a positive male role model, being unmarried, having to navigate life alone, and leading a business that is 100% task-driven, where some clients expect the sun, the moon, the stars, and the sky for free, without consideration of all who have had to come together to make their projects complete.
I’ve built a support system with God, my family, friends, therapy, music, and it all helps. But even with all of that, I still feel the ups and downs of being human. I still feel the weight of life, the loss, the sadness, the struggles, the loneliness, the moments where I wonder if I’m doing enough but too physically, mentally or emotionally drained to do more.
I’ve learned, though, that I’m stronger than I realized. I come from a line of resilient, strong, highly educated Black women who could not be broken. I trust that God never gives me more than I can bear, that storms eventually give way to sunshine, and that challenges bring growth and oh how I have grown.
So when did I start using my pain as power? The day I realized that I am the power; I just need to continue charging.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My daughter, Theresa.
She embodies resilience, self-care, and grace under pressure. She’s built a life that reflects her values quietly, without seeking recognition, yet everyone who meets her can see her integrity and strength. She shows up for herself and for others consistently, thoughtfully, and authentically. What I admire most is her unwavering commitment to doing what’s right, even when it’s not easy, and her dedication to education, growth, love, and kindness. Her life proves that true strength is gentle, persistent, and unapologetically real.
When I’m feeling overwhelmed, she is the one I call. When my high-expectation clients upset me, she is the one I call. She brings me back to reality and helps me remember how different we all are, and how some people just need a different type of understanding, love, and support than others.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not prioritizing myself sooner, taking time to nurture my mind, body, and spirit, and giving my loved ones the quality time they deserve.
In building Passion Organizing and leading my team, I often put my own needs last. But I know personal fulfillment fuels professional excellence.
I know if I don’t make space to live fully, love deeply, and rest intentionally, I risk missing the moments that matter most.
I want to live a life that balances impact with joy, ambition with connection, and success with presence.
