We recently had the chance to connect with Brandon Lee Anthony and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon Lee , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
There are two things that surprise me from a lot of my customers. One is that when many think of barbecue , they think of pork. Barbecue ranges from all kinds of meats, and vegetables. Our number one seller is beef brisket. The second thing would be that a lot of people here in Georgia don’t relate smoke to barbecue. There has been numerous times when customers were amazed by the smoke that my grill gives off. They also have said they are not typically use to a lot of smoke in the atmosphere. This along lets me know that the art here has been lost.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
IM Brandon Lee Anthony, the Owner of “Lee’s All In One BBQ”. My business started off from an enjoyable and therapeutic hobby of grilling. When I would grill I would get tired of having time season the meat , and then buy sauce to compliment the meat . One day I said there has to be a season I can invent that can be used to flavor any meat or vegetables without buying several seasons . Also I wanted this invention of season to be able to stand for a sauce too. This launched the birth of “Lee’s All in One Wet Rub” . A sauce and marinade that goes on any vegetables or meat without adding any other seasoning. It was an instant hit. I sold it on Facebook, Instagram, and Etsy. This seasoning along with my learned primitive style barbecue skills couldn’t be denied. From there I continued to be a student of barbecue and made it my Mission to provide people with the most authentic style of barbecue the way it was meant to be . In order to get my product out the most abundant we specialize in Event Vending and Catering .
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
I truly a self taught student of barbecue. I’m an avid watcher of bbq Pitt masters. I also YouTube and google search for best methods. Nevertheless I practice weekly in my back yard.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes definitely! The past couple of months has been financially challenging due to equipment failure. From my work truck going down to most recently my smoker . I’ve had to be highly adaptable this year:
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie is that this is easy work. My saying is “IF GOOD BBQ WAS EASY , EVERYBODY WOULD BE DOING IT”. I am not referring to the finished product of barbecue. I am referring the physical aspect of it. The prepping , loading , unloading, smoked out hair, skin and dirtiness is what most people don’t see.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I’m story will be simple. I was a barbecue pioneer that help pave the way for future students .
