An Inspired Chat with Courtney Johns

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Courtney Johns. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Courtney , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Intelligence

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Courtney Johns, the founder of The Dollface Experience Fashion & Beauty LLC. For over 17 years, I’ve built Dollface into more than just a resale and fashion brand—it’s a thriving community where women come together to shop, connect, and grow.

What makes my work unique is that I blend style, self-care, and empowerment. I host weekly live fashion shows on Facebook, mentor women through my Dollface Reseller Academy, and create beauty products and self-care tools that help women feel confident inside and out.

I’m especially proud that Dollface is a platform where women support one another—we’ve given away toys, school supplies, books and mentorship opportunities to our community, and I’m constantly creating new ways to inspire and uplift.

Right now, I’m expanding into Dollface Cosmetics, launching new planners and eBooks, and mentoring the next wave of resellers so they can turn their closets into cash. My mission is simple: to represent for women in fashion and show up with love, creativity, and consistency.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest moment of truly feeling powerful was when people first started coming to me with their questions. It showed me that they trusted my knowledge and valued my voice. That shift—from just doing my own thing to realizing others were looking to me for guidance—made me recognize my influence and the responsibility that comes with it.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
One fear that has held me back in life is not talking about myself out loud. I’ve never been the type to be boisterous or braggadocious, and while humility has always been important to me, I realize it can also be a downfall. By staying quiet about my accomplishments, I sometimes limit how many people get to know about the work I’m doing and the impact I’m making. I’m learning that sharing my story isn’t bragging—it’s opening doors for others to connect, be inspired, and grow with me.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie my industry tells you is that you have to show up perfect. I believe the opposite—showing up trying is what really connects with people. Being polished has its place, but the truth is, most of the people who appear to have it all figured out actually don’t. Authenticity, effort, and relatability go further than perfection ever could.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
One thing I understand deeply that most people don’t is that gatekeeping is a curse. Holding back resources or knowledge doesn’t expand your capacity—it limits it. When you empower people, they go on to empower others, and that ripple effect can change families, communities, and generations. I believe information is meant to be shared. Even if you had to invest to gain it, you can still pass it on for a fraction of the cost and spark inspiration in others. True power is multiplied when it’s shared.
