We’re looking forward to introducing you to Harley Pogue. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Harley, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
My son! I always say that my business is my baby but I am so lucky to be raising the most amazing little dude. He’s only 19 months old but gosh, he is so smart and silly. He’s forever my biggest accomplishment.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Harley Marie Pogue, and I’m the founder and CEO of Harley Marie Social — a digital media agency known for creating scroll-stopping content with style, strategy, and intention. What began as a passion for PR quickly evolved into a full-service creative studio, growing organically into a brand that helps businesses show up online in ways that feel elevated, effortless, and unforgettable. At our core, we specialize in helping brands show up online with purpose — curating content that doesn’t just look good, but actually connects. From strategy to execution, everything we do is rooted in storytelling that feels elevated yet real. Harley Marie Social is where luxury meets authenticity — and we’re just getting started.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that having a job was the end goal — that success meant working for someone else and getting by. My parents were unmarried and from a poor neighborhood where survival was the focus, not legacy. No one around me was building empires — they were just trying to make it to the next Friday.
When we moved to Georgia, I started meeting friends whose families lived differently — with resources, freedom, and ease. That exposure flipped a switch in me. I knew I didn’t want to repeat cycles. I didn’t just want stability — I wanted ownership, generational wealth, and something of my own. No matter how many doors closed, I knew I wasn’t meant to wait for a seat at the table. I wanted to own the building.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell her it’s okay to want more. It’s okay to be the “boujee” one. To be extra, emotional, passionate — all of it. And it’s more than okay if no one gets it. The truth is, the people I was seeking approval from weren’t dreaming as big as I was. Nor did they have the capacity to. I wish I’d realized sooner that their opinions weren’t a reflection of my potential. I would’ve saved so much time and so many tears if I had stopped trying to fit in and instead found people who got the vision — the hustlers, the dreamers, the doers. That’s who I was meant to run with all along.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. What you see is what you get. I don’t know how to be anything but real. Authenticity isn’t a strategy for me — it’s who I am, in business and in life.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. I’ve always given it my all — even when no one understood what I was building. There were times my own family watched me struggle and constantly suggested I go the 9–5 route that they chose for themselves. It wasn’t that they didn’t believe in me — they just didn’t understand this world, this kind of hustle. And that’s okay. I’ve learned that not everyone will see the vision, especially when it’s ahead of its time. But I don’t do this for praise. I do it because I know what I’m building matters — and because I refuse to settle for anything less than the life I know I’m meant to create.
