An Inspired Chat with LaKissha Williams

We recently had the chance to connect with LaKissha Williams and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning LaKissha, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Where do I start? Because it was once my focus, people often think I just build websites or design logos. That is far from the truth. What I really do is help creatives and entrepreneurs bring their ENTIRE vision to life. I’m not just a designer or a strategist. I’m a creative partner who works with my clients from idea to execution.

Because I work from home and it’s just me, people will sometimes assume I’m running a small scale business. What they don’t notice is I’ve built systems, managed campaigns, and launched projects for many businesses.

The biggest misunderstanding? That I just offer a service. As I stated before, what I offer is a partnership/relationship. That includes, but is not limited to, creative direction, strategy, tech know-how, and business sense. And this is offered by someone who actually cares about the brand’s growth AND has been in my partner’s shoes.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Sure!! I’m Kissha….the Creative Director, strategist, and founder of Social Khaos Kreative Solutions. I help independent music artists, DJs, media creatives, and event curators build their brands while allowing them to focus on their craft.

I didn’t start in the music or event scene. My background has been tech for 20+ years. Over time I decided to focus on marketing and branding, but I kept getting pulled toward the music space. This started in Atlanta where I was head of the Marketing department for a start up music tech company. Then I found myself shortly after the pandemic shut down the world in Mexico hosting events and managing my friend’s photography business. During this time, I was surrounded by artists, creatives, DJs, photographers, and others with big talent but no clear structure or brand identity. That’s when I finally said “ok, this is where I need to put my focus”.

So I shifted. I stopped trying to serve everybody and started to focusing on this niche; the creatives who just needed someone to help them bring their vision to life. Through my business, I started offering brand strategy, content creation, streamlined operations management, and event/tour strategy and execution….. basically all the behind-the-scenes stuff that most people don’t think about when building their brand.

AND because I don’t believe in doing anything halfway, I decided to go back to school to get my Music Business degree so that I can show up for my clients with both creativity and industry knowledge. I’m not here just to design things. I am here to support my partners for the long haul.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The people closest to me saw it way before I did. I’d be in the room when an idea came up, and somehow I’d become the one making it happen. No title, no official role. I just naturally stepped in, figured things out, and executed. And I never thought much of it. It was just what I did. But over time, those same people would say things like “you always figure it out” or “we all need a Kissha”. And eventually, I had to pause and ask myself “what is it that they see that I am not owning yet”.

For a long time, I downplayed it. I was humble to a fault. But now, I’m fully leaning into it. I do know how to get things done. I am a creative strategist with the kind of mind that can see both the big vision and the tiny details. And my ability to learn on the fly is what I now consider my superpower.

So yes, they saw me first but now I can see me too!!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her…

Never give up, no matter how heavy it gets. The hard moments won’t last forever and every struggle will shape you into the woman you’re becoming.

Have faith, even when things feel uncertain.

Be humble, but don’t shrink. It’s okay to know your worth and still be learning.

Speak up, even when the world tries to silence you.

Stop carrying the weight of other people’s expectations. LIVE FOR YOU!!

And girl, you don’t always have to act like the only child. Let people in. You don’t have to do it all alone.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
ABSOLUTELY! What you see is what you get. I’m quirky, a tad bit spicy, and I love to get things done. I refuse to fake the funk. I might crack a joke during a meeting or turn the music all the way up and sing at the top of my lungs while building a brand deck. But trust, the work always gets done. I’ve learned to let my personality live within my professionalism.

Now, that doesn’t mean you see everything. I’m still human. I have private battles, quiet growth, and moments I keep to myself. But the energy, passion, and the way I show up…. that’s me all day. I’ve learned that being true to yourself, even in public spaces, is a form of freedom. I’m not watering myself down for anyone. I’m not shrinking to try to fit into a box. What I share of me is honest and rooted in purpose. If it ever stops feeling real, I don’t want it.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What light inside you have you been dimming?
Honestly…. the light of knowing.

The deep, intuitive part of me that always felt connected to something bigger. The part of me that knows when I’m meant to do something, even before I can fully explain it. I used to second-guess a lot of things, play small, or wait for permission. I let fear and imposter syndrome dim what was always there.

I also dimmed my ability to lead, because I’ve been so used to being the support, the fixer, the one behind the curtain (like the man in the Wizard of Oz). But now I understand that my light does not take away from anyone else’s. It was given to me on purpose and to help others shine brighter too.

I’m learning to trust myself fully. To speak when I feel led. To move even if the path isn’t clear. This version of me is not asking for permission anymore.
