We recently had the chance to connect with Melissa Mor and have shared our conversation below.
Melissa, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
It is pure chaos. It is making breakfast, getting the kids showered and ready for school. I try not check my phone up until we are ready leave! That means no checking work emails or anything because once I start it’s hard to stop.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Melissa, the founder of Mrs. Push, a destination for curated, personalized push presents and family jewelry, where meaningful style meets the milestones of motherhood.
During each of my pregnancies, I struggled to find a truly meaningful push present and so did most of my friends. That’s when I had my aha moment: there wasn’t a one-stop shop for push presents. Jewelers focus on engagement rings and wedding jewelry, but no one was specializing in celebrating the incredible milestone of becoming a mom.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My kids have shaped how I see myself because I see myself in them. When they do something, whether it’s good or bad, I can instantly trace where they get it from and think, “OMG, that’s me!” Sometimes it’s cute… and sometimes it’s a little humbling.
Like when one of them has to have the last word, just like I do. Seeing those traits reflected back at me makes me pause and acknowledge, “Yep, that’s where they got it.” It pushes me to be more mindful and try to be better, knowing they’re learning so much from what I model.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I often feel like I’m almost ready to give up. But I don’t. Giving up is easy—sticking with something is hard. What keeps me going is remembering the bigger picture, especially in business, and reconnecting with my why. That clarity fuels me to push forward, even when it’s tough.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, this is the real me but there’s so much more I don’t share. I’m naturally a very private person. While my kids often appear in shoots, you’ll see them, but not their faces or hear them on camera. Protecting my family’s energy is my top priority.
As a business owner, I know it’s common for people to expect owners to weigh in on current events or trending topics. I choose not to get involved in that. My business is jewelry, and while I might share something funny or personal from time to time, I keep the focus on those areas.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
Some people think I’m “just trying to sell jewelry,” or that push presents are materialistic but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Push presents are sentimental, meaningful, and have the power to bring you back to your most special moments.
Yes, I proudly say that all moms deserve push presents but not in an entitled way. It’s about capturing and cherishing these incredible milestones through jewelry that lasts a lifetime.
