An Inspired Chat with Nadia Dixon of Gwinnett

Nadia Dixon shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Nadia, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
From the moment I open my eyes, I thank God for giving me another day, an able body, and a roof over my head. I sit in this meditative prayer state for about 10-15 minutes. Practicing gratitude from the start of my day has become essential. I noticed that starting my days like this has lead to a better flow and pace. Pray first, then plan. From there, I go into my bathroom and apply my face mask, climb back in bed, grab my bible and read scripture for 15-20 minutes – about the time it takes my face mask to fully set. Now Im ready to officially get up and get my day started. I wash my face, drink my seamoss, green juice, and a glass of water. Next, I take my dog for a walk. I enjoy practicing deep breathing while Im outside. I am often inspired my nature, so I begin strategically planning my day while outdoors, gaining mental clarity. When I come back inside, I feed my pup, make sure my space is clean, and once everything is in order, Im finally ready to face the emails that need responses, and my to-do list that was curated the night before. Im intentional about not touching my phone until I have completed my grounding practices. Also, taking my time before jumping into my daily responsibilities really helps set the tone for the day. A slow paced start keeps me from getting into a hasty state. I used to feel like I was rushing through the day from the time I opened my eyes to the moment I laid down. I would often forget or overlook my responsibilities when moving so swiftly. Listening to a soothing and uplifting music playlist has also had a positive influence on my mood for the day. Getting my spirit in check is my first priority, and this practice consumes the first 90 minutes of my day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My Name is Nadia Dixon, and I am the founder and owner of Moss Sauce, an organic seamoss company. My seamoss products are not like most you’ll come across on the market. I have traveled across the world to various countries, sourcing the best quality seamoss.

I use 100% fresh and natural ingredients, making all my products vegan and organic. While seamoss is extremely rich in minerals on its own, containing 92 essential vitamins, I use fruits and herbs that help supercharge the benefits of this superfood. In all of our fruit infused seamoss gels, I also use the herb mullein which acts as a lung detox, removing stubborn mucus that is often built up in the chest. This has been our best selling product as it works for people of all ages, backgrounds, and professions.

I offer a variety of products such as Seamoss Gel, in various flavors, face-masks, body wash, immunity shots, DIY kits and more. I specialize in making these supplements more convenient for consumers by packaging it in squeezable pouches so they aren’t burdened with the responsibility of having to find a spoon or protect a glass jar from breaking during transport. This packaging makes getting your daily supplement intake effortless and delightful! Not to mention, they are holistic supplements, meaning higher bioavailability for your body to absorb the nutrients it needs without any of the extra synthetic additives that most supplements contain.

I am currently working on releasing an E-book, called Seamoss Secrets. This is essentially an encyclopedia for seamoss, where you can learn about the numerous ailments that seamoss combats. This book is complete with recipes, affirmations, and knowledgable, cited information. It’s an easy ready for those who are curious about seamoss, or want to resolve any issue they’re suffering from. Educating people on ways to naturally heal their bodies is my number one priority. No more getting caught up with the expensive and endless side affects of medication.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God has most significantly shaped the way that I see myself. I have been in business nearly 5 years, but for most of my career I struggled with my identity. I started my business at the ripe age of 21, as a young girl living in Atlanta. While I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur and a “Boss,” my understanding of what that entailed was misshaped by the world I was living in. So there was a lot of conflict between who I really wanted to be and the way I was living. My relationship with God taught me the importance of sacrifice, humility, and being still. As I grew in my relationship with Him, my true identity started to be revealed. I was able to get clarity on my strengths, weaknesses, and how my business is apart of my purpose, which is to love and help people. Many of the practices I learned in growing my relationship with God, have been used to help me grow as an entrepreneur. And the same principals I use for the kingdom, are used in my work life. Working with integrity, honesty, kindness, faith and humility to name a few.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Becoming a successful and profitable entrepreneur at a young age came with wounds and lessons. I used to feel like I had to save everybody, like the quality of their life way my responsibility. This savior complex lead to me giving out more than I was putting away. And If I know anything about business, really life in general, is that there are seasons. There are seasons of rain and seasons for sunshine. A smart person, puts enough away to last them through a rainy season, not just a day. So to heal from this, I exercise saying no. I had to establish firm boundaries with people, and to shift my perspective about this race that Im running. If I really want to help someone, I need to get to a point where I can help them long-term, not just right then and there. Like any good athlete, a solid contact and salary increase only comes after a few successful seasons. Once I get a secure contact and pay increase, Ill be more equipped to help long term,

Another wound I had to heal from is living a frivolous, always on the go, lifestyle. I did not stop to think for one second that my business would suffer from me never being present in the places I was actually doing business. I thought that posting on social media was enough. When In reality, for the season I was in, I definitely needed to be present, in person. It wasn’t until I sat down for a full 2 months, having meetings with different businesses, that I secured shelf space in a franchise of nutrition stores, Total Nutrition, in Houston. Now, 90% of my travel is specifically for business as an act of discipline.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. What you see is what you get. I dont do much social media for my personal life, partially because I get to showcase a lot of my life and personality through my business. I actually have made a lot of long term relationships and friendships that started with business. How I show up as a business owner is how I show up in my everyday life. I believe its important to be 100% genuine in everything you do. The same love I show to my mother or brother, is the same love I would give to a stranger off the street. I think its so important to just always put your best foot forward no matter what the situation is and to always show up as the most authentic version of yourself!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
I think everything I ever wanted , or told myself I wanted, Ive gotten. There has been no box unchecked. And sadly, 90% off those things didn’t bring me lasting satisfaction. I was happy in the moment but it was very short lived. So now, I can honestly say, in this day and age, I want for nothing. I feel like I have everything I need and want. And I have to say, I only got this satisfaction once I found God.
