We’re looking forward to introducing you to Quiana Butler-Gist. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Quiana, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
A lot of people are secretly struggling with the pressure of looking successful without actually feeling successful inside. Social media makes it easy to post the highlights, the trips, the new car, the lifestyle, but behind closed doors, many are battling with debt, exhaustion, and self-doubt.
What they don’t often say out loud is that they’re tired of working two or three jobs just to keep up. They’re worried about whether they’re leaving a legacy or just living paycheck to paycheck. And a lot of parents, especially moms, are quietly asking themselves if they’re really showing their kids a life of freedom, or just survival.
I see it all the time in the travel industry and with entrepreneurs I coach: people want more streams of income, more time freedom, and the confidence to build something sustainable, but pride keeps them from admitting they don’t know where to start. That’s why I’m so transparent about my own journey, from being a struggling single mom to now helping thousands of families create income, travel more, and build generational wealth. I want people to know it’s okay to be honest about the struggle, because that honesty is the first step toward real freedom.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Quiana Butler, but most people know me as Coach Q. I’m a multi–six-figure entrepreneur, Top 1% income earner in the travel industry, and the founder of She Flies Different, a movement designed to inspire women to build wealth, travel the world, and live life on their own terms.
I started my journey as a struggling single mom just trying to make ends meet, and now I’ve built an organization that’s helped over a thousand families create additional income streams through the travel industry. Beyond travel, I also teach people how to leverage digital products, affiliate marketing, and automation tools so they can earn money online and free up more of their time.
I’m passionate about legacy, so everything I do is with my daughters in mind. I want them, and other women watching me, to know that you don’t have to choose between financial success and family. You can design a life that allows you to have both.
Right now, I’m expanding my nonprofit, The Social High Foundation Inc., which helps high schoolers tap into entrepreneurship and learn how to monetize their skills on social media. I’m also pushing forward with She Flies Different as a movement and brand, empowering people to break free from limitations, build multiple streams of income, and create generational wealth.
What makes my story unique is that I don’t just talk about it, I live it. Whether I’m on a plane with my team, hosting business retreats, or teaching my community how to turn $20 into millions, I’m committed to showing people that freedom isn’t just a dream. It’s possible, and it’s available to anyone willing to put in the work.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
That would definitely be my husband. When I was a single mom just trying to figure life out, he came into my world and completely shifted my perspective. He was the first person to introduce me to a self development book, and that moment changed everything for me.
He helped me realize that I was valuable, that I had purpose, and that I was capable of so much more than I was giving myself credit for. Since 2015, he’s been my biggest supporter, not just as my partner in life, but as someone who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.
Because of him, I started investing in myself, working on my mindset, and stepping into leadership. He helped me grow into the woman, the mom, the businesswoman, and the leader I am today, and I’ll always honor him for being that mirror when I couldn’t see my own reflection clearly.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
For me, it was definitely network marketing. Like a lot of people, I had bought into the negative connotation around it. I actually failed in the industry a few times, and for a while I told myself it just wasn’t for me.
But when I decided to step back into it in 2019, everything changed. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. All of the lessons, even from the companies where I didn’t succeed, gave me skills I could transfer into the business I’m running now. Those “failures” were really just training grounds.
What I realized is that failure doesn’t mean it’s over, it may just mean you’re being prepared for a bigger opportunity. Sometimes you have to fall two, three, even four times before you finally hit the ground running. And that’s exactly what happened for me. Network marketing has now given me financial freedom, time freedom, and the ability to help thousands of families create the same.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to building generational wealth and creating legacy income for my family and the people I mentor. For me, this isn’t just about money, it’s about rewriting the narrative of what’s possible, especially for women, moms, and people who feel overlooked or counted out.
That’s why I launched She Flies Different. It’s not just a brand, it’s a movement. It represents women choosing freedom, multiple streams of income, and designing life on their own terms. Whether it takes me one year or ten, I’m committed to making it a household name that inspires people all over the world.
I’m also deeply committed to my nonprofit, the Social High Foundation Inc., where I help high schoolers become entrepreneurs and show them how to turn social media into income. That work matters to me because it’s planting seeds in the next generation, seeds that could change entire family trees.
No matter how long it takes, I’ll keep pouring into these projects because I believe that freedom isn’t optional, it’s necessary. And I know the work I’m doing now will outlive me.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m definitely doing what I was born to do. What I was told to do was the traditional path, go to school, make good grades, get a good job, work until retirement. But deep down, I always knew that wasn’t the life I was meant for.
I was born to lead, to create, and to show others that freedom is possible. Today, I get to do work that lights me up: building businesses, helping families generate income through travel, empowering women to step into wealth, and creating opportunities that change lives. That’s not something a job description could have ever given me, that’s purpose.
I wasn’t born to retire after 40 years of work. I was born to live free and help others do the same
