Shakirah Clark shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Shakirah, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My daughter. She’ll be 10 months soon, and seeing her stand and take her first steps has been such a reminder of growth and resilience. Every little milestone she hits reminds me why I work so hard — she’s my inspiration and my legacy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Shakirah Clark, an Atlanta-based makeup artist and creative behind unique money bouquets. I love blending artistry with personalization — whether it’s enhancing someone’s natural beauty or creating a one-of-a-kind gift, my goal is to make people feel seen, confident, and celebrated. I started my business as a hustle and am now turning it into a legacy brand that inspires women and creates unforgettable experiences, all while balancing life as a mom, which keeps me motivated every day.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Miscommunication, unmet expectations, and lack of trust are what most often break bonds. When people stop listening or fail to understand each other’s perspectives, distance grows. Transparency, empathy, and consistent effort restore bonds. Taking accountability and actively showing care rebuilds trust and strengthens relationships.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell her, ‘Girl, don’t let anyone dull your shine.’ Keep your confidence, your voice, and your fire — they’re your superpowers, and no one can take that from you.”
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
In the makeup industry, one of the biggest lies is that beauty has to fit into one standard look — when in reality, makeup should be about enhancing individuality, not erasing it. In the bouquet and gift industry, the lie is that people only want traditional flowers. In truth, people are craving creativity, personalization, and memorable gifts that stand out.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I’d build something that lasts far beyond my lifetime: a hub for creativity, education, and empowerment. A place where people could come to grow, heal, and inspire one another, leaving a ripple of positive impact that echoes across generations.
