Without hesitation—yes, I would hire me. I’ve built my career on the ability to not only imagine what’s possible, but to execute with intention, emotion, and precision. I lead with empathy, design with purpose, and think like a strategist. What sets me apart is that I don’t approach design as a luxury reserved for a few; I approach it as a form of emotional care. I have the rare ability to walk into a space and instantly understand both what it needs and what the person living in it has been craving.

That blend of creativity, resilience, and human insight is the engine behind Brève Exclusivité. I would hire myself because I deliver transformation, not just décor.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Of course. My name is Shakkearra Sykes, and I am the Founder and Creative Director of Brève Exclusivité, a design brand built on the belief that beautiful spaces should be accessible, intentional, and deeply personal.

I created Brève Exclusivité after realizing how many people crave transformation but feel overwhelmed by the traditional design process. Our specialty is offering elevated, renter-friendly décor solutions and our signature 24-Hour Makeover, where we reimagine an entire space in a single day. It’s designed for real life, fast, functional, and undeniably luxurious.

What makes Brève unique is our philosophy: we design for well-being. We don’t simply place furniture; we create atmospheres that restore confidence, calm the mind, and reflect who our clients are becoming. Every project is a blend of storytelling, artistry, and emotional understanding.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother saw me long before I ever understood myself. She recognized the spark in me, the imagination, the independence, the urge to create, at a time when I was still trying to shrink to fit the world around me. While others encouraged the safe path, she encouraged the expressive one. She treated my creativity as a calling, not a hobby, and that belief became the blueprint for everything I’ve built. Brève Exclusivité exists because she taught me to honor the parts of myself that felt bold, intuitive, and different

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
It happened the moment I understood that pain is not something to escape, it’s something to evolve from. For a long time, I carried my struggles quietly, thinking silence was strength. But when life forced me to rebuild, I learned that acknowledging my pain gave me clarity. It pushed me toward purpose. Instead of pretending I was okay, I started creating spaces that reflected the peace I needed. That shift choosing transparency over armor, became the heartbeat of Brève Exclusivité. My work is rooted in the belief that transformation begins the moment we stop hiding.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I believe deeply that your environment shapes your destiny just as profoundly as your decisions do, and that’s a truth many overlook. Some see design as surface-level, but I see it as foundational to emotional well-being. A room can quiet your mind, renew your energy, or ignite your ambition. I’ve watched people step into a newly transformed space and suddenly see themselves differently. To me, design isn’t decoration, it’s alignment.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes. Praise is beautiful, but purpose is the deeper motivator. I create, design, and build because it’s my calling, not because there’s an audience. My best work often happens in moments no one sees: late nights, quiet mornings, the details only the client will ever notice. That’s where legacy is formed, in the unseen commitment to excellence. Even without applause, I would still pour the same intention into every space, because I know the impact will live far beyond the recognition
