Today we’d like to introduce you to Allen Diamond.
Allen, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Initially, illustration and design have always been my first love. I started from drawing comic book charters when I was a kid to creating logos for businesses in early adulthood. Photography was always the glue or filler in between all of my creative ventures. I would use my dad’s old film camera all throughout my life. I must not have have been the greatest I only have one image that I’ve kept since then. It was my first picture I took of Atlanta when my family moved here in 96. I ended up pursuing graphic design professionally and years would pass before I purchased my first digital camera. When I did, I was back hooked on photography and decided to use it to explore the city.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I like to think that what I’m doing with photography conveys a sense loneliness in a big city. However, that is open for interpretation. I prefer the look of vintage lenses from the 60s and 70s — some of which I find at garage sales or on eBay for $30. I don’t really have a message or inspiration. I just want people to see, and if what they see makes them happy then I’m happy.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
I believe success is having an idea inside your head and seeing it come to fruition outside of it. I also think to achieve success in anything it takes of level of discernment and dexterity.
