Art & Life with Dustin Sean Lazenby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Sean Lazenby.

Dustin, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am a freelance makeup artist in Atlanta with eight years experience in the industry. I began as an art student with no real direction, working restaurant and retail jobs for years after schooling. My makeup career started when I sold Mary Kay produces. Realizing I wasn’t keen on sales, I decided to use my kit to do makeovers and started contacting photographers to work with and build my portfolio. I’ve worked photo shoots, weddings, runway shows, you name it! 8 years later, I have my own home studio and am also competing on the new reality television series, Bavarlee’s Makeup Wars, filming as we speak.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Being a self-taught makeup artist, I’m always practicing to continue perfecting my technique. I love working photo shoots and being creative as often as possible, so much so that I also began creative direction for photo shoots. I wanted more control over the looks I created. My style is all over the place. I’m the kind of makeup artist who rises to any challenge. As a makeup artist who is also disabled, I try my best to show others like me that you are not defined by your disability. If your body and mind will allow it, you can achieve it! I love having a platform like Bavarlee’s Makeup Wars to continue inspiring others.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
For me, success is happiness. I’m happy with life and career. I love what I do. I love to be on set as an actor or in a studio as a makeup artist. I feel I succeed every day because I continue to push for more in my career and to challenge myself as often as possible. Ultimately, I just want to be known for my work and to continue to make my clients happy.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My work is all over the place. Google my name and you can see a ton of images of my work, but I also have a fan page on Facebook, www.facebook.com/DSLmakeup. Check it out and follow me so you can keep up with what’s next. You can also support me by checking out the website for Bavarlee’s Makeup Wars at www.BBMAKEUPWARS.com. The more people pulling for me, the better chance I stay in the competition.
