Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylin Blamo.
Kaylin, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I started singing before I started talking. My journey started in church as the daughter of a pastor and lead vocalist. Singing is as natural to me as breathing. In the many years of singing in church I developed as a vocalist, a person and subsequently an artist. Though I’m only 24 I have been through love, marriage, heartbreak, divorce, happiness, abuse and ultimately healing. I carry all of those experiences with me and I think they can be heard through my voice. My artistry is about the musical expression of real life and real feelings.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
True art is a depiction of life and experiences. In my own art, I capture those feelings and express them in a song. We spend so much time categorizing and dividing ourselves. I think my goal as an artist is to bring unity by expressing things that help us realize that we are more alike than we are different. We all want the same things: to belong, to be loved, to be in love, to connect with a higher power, to have sex, to have money- to be HAPPY. I use music to express that by connecting with myself and the energy around me and creating a feeling of closeness and unity.
In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
There are so many of us that at times it’s hard to truly feel original and one of a kind. I would encourage ALL creatives to tap into themselves and their experiences to create art that ONLY the combination of their heart, life, experiences and point of view can produce.
