Today we’d like to introduce you to Kei Jackson.
Kei, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Kei been hair flipping, jazz snapping and sass walking since the age of 4. After realizing that dance was her gift to the universe, she moved from Huntsville, Al to Atlanta, GA to train heavily in ATL CRANK, Majorette, Hip Hop & Burlesque. Kei has danced and choreographed for many college dance teams, pageants, tours, music videos & recording artists such as Wiz Khalifa & Xscap3. After receiving her B.S in Kinesiology & Exercise Science from Georgia Southern University, she decided to continue her education at Xavier University, where she will receive her Masters in Coaching Education and Athlete Development. Kei currently works full time as a dance instructor and choreographer at Dance Stars of Atlanta, a director, and owner over Semi-Professional Cheer Team Golden Elite and an assistant coach of Langston Hughes Sophistikatz Auxiliary. In 2017, Kei was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis and (SLE) Lupus, so while still training and expanding her portfolio by seizing every opportunity, Kei lives, breathes, and nurtures her very own brand, D.R.E.A.M( Dance Rules Everything Around Me) that caters to dancers. She aspires to inspire while pushing her students to reach their full potential and confidence!
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I teach and minister through the art of dancing. This is what I am called by God to do. I aspire to inspire women all over the world no matter shape, size, or ability to be the very best version of themselves. Currently, I mostly preach and convey this message in my weekly dance class called H3R: Revive, Restore, Renew. H3R provides a place for all women to gain the confidence they need to elevate and reach their full potential on and off the dance floor. The goal is to fall in love with your physical, mental, and emotional self while reviving, restoring, and renewing.
I hope that people take my story and my words to PUSH and ELEVATE themselves to the newer heights. No,/ matter the devil or the level, there is a calling/purpose on each and every one of our lives. I hope to encourage and motivate the people to want to seek this.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
As an artist, I define success as impact. I believe as long as you make an impact, and allow your light to shine on someone else, you have done your job. My only and main focus is to lift up my people. There’s no monetary value that can replace that.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can support me by visiting my website, www.dreamsofkei, com. There you will find my weekly classes, workshops, offered trainings, packages, dance videos, and even an online store. I’m also on all social media platforms @keisamazing!
