Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Lyle.
Kendall, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Growing up as an only child and rooted from an artistic family, I’ve always had a passion for art & fashion. I started off making jewelry as a side hustle in college. At the time, I had no idea about branding or where to start with building a business, but as I connected myself more with my passion and the more that I created, I found more interest in implementing unique styles like Avant garde and editorial fashion. In this present day, Nidell Maono has continued to flourish and I’m so grateful for that. I plan to continue inspiring and expressing myself through my creativity.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
When I initially started my business as “pEARced by Nidell”, I limited myself to being a jewelry designer, which I am, but my ideas curate so many things, I knew that my imagination would take further along into building more. The name Nidell Maono (my-ono) is a name that I created off the top of my head, I wanted a name that would sound and look good for the brand. Nidell is a combination of my first and middle name (Kendall Nicole) and Maono is Swahili for visionary. Creating over- the – top style is the essential character of Nidell Maono, specializing in headdresses, custom wings, and other costume pieces as well as styling and coordinating. I want people to know that there is a little piece of me in all that I create. It is with love, and it is a true representation of who I am as an artist.
Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
Being any type of artist means that you have your own unique style, which is what makes people appreciate it even more. I think life for artists has become both easier and harder, easier because we have many major outlets than can be used as resources to get exposure, we just have to use each resource to its advantage. It has become harder because artists face many adversities with society, economics and even self-confidence. In retrospect, being a passionate artist will always keep you in the mindset to never give up, just never stop creating. To continue growth in the art industry in Atlanta, it will always be important to continue to encourage and show appreciation, there’s never too much of that, there’s plenty of love and support to go around.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My creations can be found on my website, Facebook and Instagram. My most recent updates can be found on my Instagram page @nidellmaono, and I am currently working on my YouTube Channel, everything Nidell Maono. Any type of support is greatly appreciated, whether it’s a shout out on social media or even an event referral. I appreciate every kind gesture of support, it’s a boost for me to keep thriving.
