Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Dearman.
Matt and Emily, a husband and wife team, want to help people bring the beauty of the outdoors into their own homes through nature inspired photography and prints. Combining their love of gardening, photography and nature, they set up MJ Dearman Photography to do just that.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Matt is a floral macro photographer who captures UK flowers and gardens through the seasons in their natural setting. All the images are as they were originally captured, using minimal post processing. They are partnered with a number of gardens across the UK, where their lush borders and diverse variety of flowers provide creative inspiration for their prints. Gardens include: Pashley Manor Gardens, West Dean Gardens, Waterperry Gardens, Brogdale Collections, Parham House and Gardens and Great Comp Garden.
The benefits of an outdoor lifestyle and interacting with nature bring pleasure to those of all ages. Matt and Emily’s love of gardening and wildlife are key to their creations. They bring this knowledge through into their prints and is one of the reasons they enjoy capturing new work so much.
Their artwork can be produced on many different mediums and is available globally. Their favorite is aluminum, giving the prints a modern, clean, crisp finish. More traditional framed prints are also available. 5% of all profits are donated to Target Ovarian Cancer, the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity. They work to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer.
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
Turning a hobby or passion into a business is never easy, but it brings so much pleasure seeing your print in someone else’s home.
