Art & Life with Morgan McGee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan McGee.

Morgan, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Growing up, I was always so fascinated with photos. I was that little girl who would walk around taking pictures of literally any and everything! As I grew, my passion grew as well. My senior year of high school is where it really took off. I was taking my third year of film class and instead of filming for our school news, I checked out my first camera ever and did individual photography projects instead.

That was the best decision I have ever made! I began taking pictures of my siblings, my niece and nephews, and some of my best friends just for fun and to get some practice. The more I photographed others, the more I fell in love with it! As senior year was coming to an end, I knew I had to get a camera of my own!

Not long after, my boyfriend bought me my very own camera and I was OBSESSED! Ever since then, I have photographed several proms, seniors, and some of the most perfect babies! I have a long way to go but I feel like I have come so far from where I began. So for that, I am proud of myself!

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
As a photographer, my main goal is to capture a moment that others can hold on to and cherish forever! Just the thought of freezing a special time in someone’s life for them to look back on and smile, makes me extremely happy and really keeps me going because that’s what it’s all about. Although, I am still fairly new to this and learning new things everyday, I hope to one day inspire others in doing something that they love like so many local photographers have inspired me to do!

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Never give up and always be supportive of others! It can be hard especially with so many people sharing the same passion as you but no matter what, build others up and support them as well.

Sure, it takes time, practice, and if you are self-taught, then it takes a lot of YouTube tutorials but one day it will pay off. You are your worst critic, so don’t be too hard on yourself. We grow and become better with time and effort. Like I said earlier, I have a long way to go before I am where I want to be, but I will never stop trying and giving it my all!

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
You can find me on Facebook (@MM Photography). Give my page a like/follow! It would mean the world to have everyone’s love and support.

Being a beginner can be a bit scary and intimidating at times but as soon as I’m holding a camera in my hands, all that doubt seems to fade. Every aspect is so worth it just to be able to do something that I love and make people smile while doing it!
