Art & Life with Tina Billy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Billy.

Tina, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
A brief snippet of me: I was born in Stockholm, Sweden to Iranian parents. We moved to America in the early 2000s to start a better life. I grew up with a sense of appreciation for where I am and who I have the potential to become just for the mere fact of living in the United States. My family was always hard working in every business or endeavor and by their example, I developed a strong work ethic and an inner mission to outdo myself. After working many jobs, I decided to mix the skills I learned with the potential I had to start my own business and water my own dream instead of someone else’s.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a Realtor who specializes in the Buckhead, Sandy Springs & Roswell area. Real Estate is something that is not going anywhere anytime soon. With the population in Atlanta increasing, there are so many opportunities for people to invest their capital into real estate. With this knowledge, I decided to become a real estate agent. Learning all the ins and outs of this industry is so exciting and interesting for me. Not only do I get to help people make one of the greatest decisions in their lives, but I get to make a living without compromising my dreams. That was one of the biggest factors when deciding what business I wanted to start. So when my clients meet me, they can honestly say they are working with someone who loves what they do and will do their best work every time.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
Finances are always going to be a factor in any business and in life in general. Its very easy to choose a career only for the money, especially since that is what most of us have been taught growing up. My advice for anyone who needs motivation to overcome financial hardship and pursue their dream is to understand that money is nothing but a tool. A tool that can be used to help your family, start a brand, pay off your loans, etc.. But instead of focusing your energy on amassing more of it then getting overwhelmed and end up doing nothing, learn to make the most of the tools you already have. It’s not about how much you make, it about what you do with what you make. Divide what you already make into separate accounts (i.e Bills, Savings, Business) instead of just spending whatever is in your account, use that money to fuel your separate accounts. After some time you will see that you’ve created a tool you can use to start your dream. Everything you need to make it happen is already within you. Educate yourself in finances so you can make healthy financial decisions.

Starting a business can be overwhelming, but take it one day at a time. We often fool ourselves into thinking we need to have it all figured out in the beginning, and we don’t. We fail, learn, grow and succeed through experience.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
The best way someone can support my business is to refer me to someone they know who is looking to buy or sell a home in the Metro Atlanta area. Word of mouth is the most authentic way to grow a business. People want to feel secure when making a huge purchase, and its always better to get a referral by someone you trust than to randomly search online. It is my mission to always leave clients in a better position than before they met me.
