I started cooking when I was about ten years old. Shepherd’s Stew from “The Betty Crocker Cookbook” was the first thing I ever made. A couple years later, I won a blue ribbon for my banana nut bread from 4-H. My first restaurant job was fast food (Pizza Hut, actually), and I worked in the industry for fourteen years before I went to culinary school at The Art Institute of Atlanta, where I graduated summa cum laude with a concentration in baking and pastry. I’m one of those kids that always wanted a camera, a darkroom set up and the ability to use them all!! My Dad seem to always be with his Pentax, taking family photos, pictures with his buddies out sailing or hunting. Must be where I got the bug. Fast, real fast forward… I was working at Aerial Innovations in Tampa, Florida as a sales rep., my territory was Orlando. The owner liked that I had a photography background. I called on General Contractors to try to sell construction (progress) photography. The Atlanta Baroque Orchestra is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season this year! This fun and energetic group was founded by Lyle Nordstrom, who at the time was a Professor at Clayton State College (now University). After Lyle’s career path took him away from Atlanta, the orchestra hired John Hsu to lead them; and after John’s retirement, I joined the group as Artistic Director and Concertmaster in 2011. In 1997, playing 17th- and 18th-century music on historical instruments was a relatively new thing, and the then newly formed ABO, as the first baroque orchestra in the Southern states, was an important player in shaping this emerging early-music scene. Originally from New York I went to school for Architecture at Pratt institute, yet my true calling was and still is Interior Design, for which I earned a Bachelors of Arts. Having spent a number of years working at large design firms in Atlanta designing hotel and country club projects, I started Total Concept Interiors in 1990. Although we still do some hospitality work our main focus these days are multi-family communities.
