Check out Andras Bality’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andras Bality.

Andras, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
After finishing a post graduate course in painting at the Cyprus college of Art, where I learned about plein air painting/observational painting from English painter Tom watt, I came back to Richmond determined to become a successful painter, which to me meant making good paintings and paying my bills by selling those paintings. I worked many part time jobs, always with the goal of getting through a month’s bills until 2008, when I was able to devote myself full time to painting. I have been working with Atlanta based Soho Myriad Fine Arts for about 20 years, one of the highlights of that relationship was making three large commissioned pieces for a hotel in China called The Parisian, a few years back.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My paintings are based on observation, whether from plein air paintings done on location or from small sketches, watercolors, which I bring back to the studio to make larger paintings from. I tend to make paintings of scenes which captivate me and make me want to share my joy/enthusiasm of a fleeting scene, which I feel somehow conveys much more than the sum of its parts about the phenomenon of being a human being.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I feel the biggest challenge for all artists is to not settle into a comfort zone, but to continue to search and evolve as an artist.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I currently show with Reynolds Gallery in Richmond VA. and Warm Springs Gallery in Warm Springs VA, Reproductions of my work and commissions can be arranged through Soho Myriad in Atlanta.
