Today we’d like to introduce you to Armani Skrine.
Armani, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up on the south side of Atlanta, also known as the S.W.A.T.S., but I’ve lived in every part of metro Atlanta until I finally settled in East Atlanta. I am the daughter of two entrepreneurs, so starting my own business was expected to happen eventually. I grew up working within my parents’ many businesses, assisting them with project coordination and marketing heavily. I truly enjoyed it and was naturally good at it, but I didn’t think I could truly make a living doing it as a career. I was surrounded by celebrities and people in the music industry because of my parents, and as a writer/artist myself, that life was truly where my heart lied. However, the concern of stability caused me to begin my career working as a permit tech at Atlanta City Hall, and within two years, I became a fire inspector and a fire plan reviewer (the youngest female to do so in Georgia). Eventually, the company I worked for gave me the opportunity to do business development for the government, which put me, the youngest employee in the company, in a position with others that had 25+ years of experience on me. This position grew my marketing knowledge, my relationship with government officials all over the southeast and sales skills as well. This opportunity, as well as seeing how much money was being made for other people, was truly a wake-up call that I should be doing this for myself.
At 23 years old and also a single mother, starting my own business and leaving the stability of a 9-5 was a scary thought. Not only do I have to make enough money to provide for myself, but I also have to make sure I’m providing for my son. 2019 I took a leap of faith and decided to start my own marketing and management company to combine my industry relationships with the years of marketing knowledge that I learned, thus producing the birth of Mani Management. Mani Management is a resource hub for creatives and small businesses. Our services include business consultations, social media marketing, direct marketing, artist management, event coordination and more! Becoming a member of The Gathering Spot and moving to East Atlanta have also strongly impacted my business by providing me great networking opportunities and resources. I have now gained relationships, and business partners in L.A obtained multiple clients, and can truly say that I am living my dream!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am the CEO of Mani Management. I created this business to help other creatives like myself, as well as small business owners to grow their business through different forms of marketing. I have a team that handles social media management and content creation, website design, event planning/coordination, graphic design and so much more! My business was inspired by seeing my parents transition and struggles with starting businesses in my childhood. I’ve seen the rise and fall of businesses and was able to learn what works, what doesn’t, and how to fix common problems that happen when starting a business. Helping creatives to be able to make money and be able to live solely off of their talents brings me joy! I hope to be able to help multiple entrepreneurs be able to live out there dream the way I’ve been blessed to live out mine.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Be intentional with everything, especially where you spend your money.
Invest in yourself.
Clout does not equal credibility.
Trust God’s timing over your own.
Don’t base your life decisions on advice from people who don’t have to live with the results.
Relationships in general, especially in business, are VERY important.
You do not need college to be successful, but you do need knowledge and skills.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
