Check out Bach to Rock Alpharetta, Jennifer Gross’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Gross, the Director of Bach to Rock Alpharetta.

Jennifer, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
It was 12:27PM in the middle of July of 2016. I know that because I was playing a game with myself to see if I could make time move faster- I was bored out of my mind! I was sitting in a cubicle in a room with pasty beige walls, a desk full of paperwork that needed to be filed, and a to-do list with tasks that I had no desire to complete. I was completely uninspired in my typical 9-5 corporate job. This pattern repeated for several weeks and then I decided I had enough. I needed to be doing something that was related to what I loved most- music! So, I googled “music jobs Atlanta” and bam! I saw an ad for Director of Bach to Rock Alpharetta. I took the next day pouring my heart and soul into my cover letter and resume.

I wanted the good people of Bach to Rock to not just know but completely understand that I needed them as much as they would need me. I was apprehensive on if writing an intimate and personal cover letter was the way to go, but I submitted and the very next day I received a phone call from Carmen and Nancy Guinto (the owners of B2R Alpharetta) asking me for an interview. Fast forward two years later- we are thriving in the North Atlanta community; offering private music lessons, group classes, birthday and corporate parties, camps, and a variety of amazing programs in Alpharetta, Roswell, Milton, and Woodstock, we were just named one of the Best of North Atlanta, and we have inspired hundreds of kids and adults to play the music they love! I could not be happier!

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We teach students of all ages how to make music. We focus on the major five of a rock band- drums, guitar, vocals, piano, and bass. Additionally, we offer lessons for trumpet, saxophone, violin, and sound engineering. Basically- any instrument, any age! But we do not stop there! We have early education classes starting at 6 months, birthday parties, music camps, rock bands, corporate parties, workshops, musicianship badge programs for scouts, and so much more!.

We believe that everyone learns best while playing in a group and love building bands and glee clubs for our students to participate in. We do not just teach kids, we teach everyone and anyone who wants to learn music!
We believe playing music should be fun- it is called a play for a reason. Bach to Rock Alpharetta is truly the best place in the Alpharetta/Roswell area to take music lessons. We love our students- they are like family- and we support them in every way possible.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
There is a lot going on in the world. Right now, our country feels more and more divisive every day. That is why music is so important. It is a universal language that brings people together no matter what their background or beliefs. It is absolutely vital that we are here. Music is a crucial element in any child’s development. It has been proven that learning music can only lead to success in the academic setting. Also, music is an escape. It helps you relieve stress, cope and heal, and it gives you an opportunity to express your creative side. Hans Christian Andersen said it best, “when words fail, music speaks”

Bach to Rock Alpharetta is here to help you achieve your goals. We want you to be excited about music and play the music you love. Simply put, we make rock stars- on and off the stage.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can always come by our school for a tour, see our amazing students perform at gigs around town. Check our events page on our website or follow us on any of the social media, our handle is @b2ralpharettaga You can support our work by registering for lessons, group classes, bands, camps, or any other programs that we offer at our school. Just spread the word about Bach to Rock! We need people to know we are out there! Also, just support the arts! See a live music show or take in a theatrical performance!
