Meet cAARe Health Enterprise

Today we’d like to introduce you to cAARe Health Enterprise.

The concept for cAARe originated in 2007 when Yvette and Stacie were working together as travel nurses in California. The two had met pledging Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc years prior and had finished nursing school together. Through years of friendship they discovered that they worked well together as nurses, traveled well together as friends, and also had a certain synergy of ideas that made them great potential business partners. While visiting California as traveling nurses, they had to do a certification for work. The whole process was very simple and it sparked an idea.

In the end, the hospital required a service and this agency provided it. Period. Yvette and Stacie began to ponder over what other services could be simply provided in healthcare. Of course as nurses furthering the profession, education and perception of nurses began to take center stage. They dreamed of creating a business that would address the issues of job preparedness, education, health and wellness among other things. Fast forward to April 27, 2019, cAARe Health was officially born. The two emergency room nurses were great producers of ideas but found that they were not quite as organized as they wanted to be. Enter Kailyn, a colleague of Yvette’s. Kailyn is a go-getter ICU nurse with concentric interests and a knack for organizing. She was a perfect fit for cAARe. In addition to organizational skills, she brought with her a passion for holistic health and wellness. cAARe was well on its way, the ideas were there, the passion was there, and there was a whole lot of know-how. There was just one more thing. cAARe didn’t look like cAARe.

After a series of not perfect flyers Yvette reached out to a long time friend, fellow emergency nurse, former room mate, and creative Sheena. Her experience as a nurse and personal relationship with the cAARe team helped to form an image for the brand of cAARe. Together they worked to create an image that fit the idea. At present cAARe is thriving off of the synergy of the cAARe team, each member brings her life experience and perspective that contributes to the well rounded and far reaching goals of cAARe. They are currently providing resume and job interview prep services, certification and recertification for BLS, ACLS, and PALS, in addition to creating a medical assisting refresher course and after cAARe Instructions aimed at helping providers to create more comprehensive discharge instructions. The cAARe team consists of four black women who have worked their way through school and overcome a myriad of challenges that come with being professional women of color. As such, cAARe is committed to rising to meet this historical moment by promoting access to education, job preparation, and wellness in underserved communities.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At cAARe we have encountered a number of challenges. Some expected and some unexpected. Our biggest challenge to date has been choosing which paths to actively pursue in our current phase of business development. We have so many good ideas that it has been difficult to focus our energy but we are getting the hang of it. Second to that is wrangling four partners at different stages in life to collaborate and plan. We each have our individual obligations to family, work etc to balance along with building cAARe Health. Luckily we are all tenacious and committed women who love working together and can appreciate the process. Our drive to provide much needed services to the community continues to push us forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are a group of nursing experts that specialize in navigating the healthcare environment. The healthcare system, both services and education, can be overwhelming and hard to navigate and we are here to help. In our quest to improve upon the existing system we are dedicated to meeting each individual where they are and assisting them in getting to where they want to be, whether that means providing a certification, resume help, or additional education. We are most proud of our personal attention to each of our clients. Our services are meant to take into account the individual’s unique background and current situation. We are not a one size fits all type of operation and that’s what makes us different.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
There have been so many important lessons that we have learned. The most important thing is to enjoy the journey. Creation is a process, it doesn’t happen overnight and although there may be challenges and pitfalls, working together towards a goal that we believe in is fun and fulfilling. As we build our business we are learning more and more about ourselves and each other. That being said, you can not underestimate the importance of having a professional network.

There is of course the benefit of knowing people who know other people who can professionally benefit us. But having colleagues to bounce ideas off of or to ask advice of is invaluable. Although everyone’s process is different some of the challenges are the same and it is always good to learn from the mistakes or roadblocks of others. In addition to enjoying the process and having a solid professional network, being adaptable is another key lesson. Although our overall vision has remained the same the path we are on to getting there has taken multiple twists and turns. Each step of the way it has been important for us to be able to take advantage of a new opportunity or situation and not to be too rigid about our plan.
