Check out Danielle Glover

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Glover.

Danielle, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve been what I consider a “weirdo” from the start. Generally far from the beaten path, I’ve always found joy and interest in niche subjects and activities. From enjoying high fantasy books as a near-mute little girl to the unyielding quippy extrovert I’ve become, I’ve found myself gathering as much knowledge about as many topics I could seize with my dexterous little mitts. While gathering and learning, I started to express myself in as many ways as possible; a creative person can only be multifaceted for so long without doing something about it.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
So, I made a jingle to keep things neat: Hi, I’m Danielle, I do too much, I like hair, talking, cosplay, music, art & stuff. (Yes, it is set to a catchy little melody.) In everything that I do (professional acting, singing, dancing, YouTube (channel: StarPuppy), and visual art) my main goals are to uplift, cheer up, and/or encourage understanding. It’s my intention to help as many people as possible, and I’d say I accomplish that on the biggest scale with my “Surviving Your 20’s” Series on my YouTube channel. I’d categorize them as extremely vulnerable heart to hearts about social topics no one seems keen on acknowledging. But, again, I am far from the beaten path and proud of it. I kid you not. I get emails, comments, or dm’s EVERYDAY telling me how a simple video has helped someone so much in this difficult decade; I cry over a few, it’s so touching. You should know that I’m never going to be satisfied with one form of expression. I’m always trying to find something new, something different, something unexpected. It’s what keeps me going.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
It took me a LOOOONG time to realize that art doesn’t have to be your main source of income to be an artist. I know I was sick of hearing that and similar sayings post-grad, but I’ve done the leg work, and it’s really true. I’m at a place where my art is actually supporting me, but I didn’t change anything from when I was doing this for free ninety-nine. I wish I had enjoyed my time developing as an artist earlier, but I actually think I dodged a bullet by being semi-late to the game. I managed to build up some artistic self-esteem before algorithms, subscribers, and numbers were even a factor. I know what my expression is worth, paid, or not.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I only have three platforms. For shame. But Youtube: StarPuppy, Instagram: @starpuppy_, and Patreon: Patreon.com/thestarpuppy.

Come by and see me.
