Check Out David Owens’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Owens.

Hi David, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was inspired by the work of my grandfather. He had begun photography later in his life around the sixties and seventies and continued his hobby for the remainder of his life. Once he passed, my father found a box full of the pictures my grandfather had taken throughout the years and I was immediately taken by the timeless moments my grandfather was able to capture with just a camera lens. Looking through his work allowed me to feel closer to him than I had in a long time and inspired me to create using photographs as my grandfather hadk before me, but in my own way. After graduating high school, I realized that photography was much more than merely a hobby for me, and from then on, I was determined to make it a career.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My adhd and dyslexia made it hard for me to keep up in school and everyday life but photography helped me find focus and keeps me moving and concentrated.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photography student at the Creative Circus so at the moment, I am unable to specialize in any one field. However, since starting school, I have found myself more inclined to shooting live subjects, such as people. Before I started school, I would take day trips into the city and walk downtown, taking photos fof people as they lived their daily life, I became inspired by the people and loved capturing their stories wordlessly through my lens.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I was named after my grandfather. His name was Dawüd, which translates to David in English. I chose to work under the name Eyes of Dawüd as a way of paying homage to him.
