Check out Elicia Ward’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elicia Ward.

Elicia, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I began painting, drawing & creating when I was a child. I had a pretty unstable childhood so was a great way to heal & a safe place to be. Here I could release all disturbances from inside & also it was a great way for me to recognize how I felt. My grandma was the one who first taught me how to paint when I was 4 years old. She was very crafty & she showed me all sorts of ways to create throughout my childhood. I have always kept a journal & sketch when I don’t have time to create the bigger ideas. Until now…

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My work is very raw. I hide nothing as I believe true vulnerability is the key to awakening the potential in others & it unlocks the conditioning that is so heavily veiled in our society. I enjoy exploring difficult philosophies & concepts & combining the ideas on paper, canvas or in 3 demential formats. I never run out of ideas, I always have a stream of sketches running through my mind at all times. I believe that as a true artist I am here to create from my heart, all my emotions are thrown to the canvas or into the song or writing, I hold nothing back. I think for the individual viewing my work they can explore a piece of time I have experienced. People seem to feel validation, connection & in some works, inspiration & hope. Every artwork comes with its own prose of writing, this comes through as I paint.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success is when people connect to your work. The essential quality is to be genuine, authentic, don’t do it for the money, do it for your soul. Some days the world feels like it has consumed me, & the only way I can breathe again is to create, this is also where our true power lies. If we allowed ourselves to connect to this genius within we would shatter this old system & fill the hearts of many with hope, love & acceptance. This is success, to be of service using whatever gift you have, even if that only be your presence.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see my work in my New Age Art Gallery, the Empress & Wolf, 35 Vincent St Daylesford, Victoria, Australia. On Instagram, Facebook or our online store theempressandwolf.com, I also sell prints of my work, the prose of writing comes with too 🙂
