Today we’d like to introduce you to Frankie Jones.
Frankie, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am born and raised in North Philadelphia. Surprisingly I stopped doing art for 8years and rediscovered in the year 2018.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I discovered painting in the year of 2018 out of curiosity. Then I realized I could seriously make this a career. I am attracted to bold, vibrant colors; that’s normally what I use in my paintings. I try to paint important role models, myself, or any person just for the hell of it. My goal is to make each individual feel bold, beautiful, powerful just by looking at my paintings. I plan to take this very far and reach the stars!
Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I feel like it has changed for the better. I noticed a lot of artists are very expressive and show us through their own eyes, which makes it more beautiful.
It affected my art as well because a lot of woman of color are told that they aren’t as beautiful as the next. So I I try to cooperate that in my art by painting woman of color. So they can feel just as beautiful.
