Check out Jeremy Ray’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Ray.

Jeremy, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a mixed media artist, painter, muralist, drawer, printmaker, designer, singer songwriter & performer. I am 35 years old & I’ve lived here since June 1st, 2007. I moved to Atlanta after graduating from Winthrop University with a degree in Printmaking & Design. I thought I would stay here for a couple of years and then move on, but Atlanta is a magical place and nothing yet has pulled me away.

My goal is to keep pushing the doors of creativity to achieve personal clarity & understanding of my time here on Earth. Every day has the ability to be more rewarding than the last and that’s why I do what I do.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art is rooted within the process. My art is who I am.
Layers, colors, mark making, accidents & abstractions.

Small, intricate life drawings.
Detailed paintings with layers & textures.
Large scale public murals.
Blind contour portraits.
Screen Prints, Lino Cuts & Monoprints.
Concert posters, packaging design, musically inspired typography.
20 years’ worth of performances as a solo artist & multi-instrumentalist with countless bands.

Whatever it takes to create work that unveils something about myself or the world I live in, that is why I make art. Regardless of the medium, the project or the destination.

This world inspires me to create every day. Whether it’s the beauty or the decay of my surroundings.

My goal is to leave this world knowing I worked as hard as I could with my art. Hopefully people see that positivity & drive within my art.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
My only advice is to make work for yourself because you have to. Who cares what anyone else thinks or what anyone else does. If you do what you do for you, you’ll be just fine.

Lessons are learned when they are meant to be learned. Mistakes & mishaps are what pushes you further into the journey. No regrets.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
